Speakers stop working need to replace don't know where the part suppose to go

I have the Altec Lancing multimedia computer system powered sub woofer and its old. They stop working recently and I noticed that something is loose inside. I opened it and it is a piece that is medal on both sides and glass in the middle (that's what the object looks like). I think I need to replace it but I don't know where to put it.

Probably the fuse, you need to take out the woofer in order to reach it.

I have a subwoofer can i hook up to computer speakers

Yes you can. cut the left speaker lead and splice a wire from it to your sub woofer. If its a powered woofer you may have too much gain going in, You don't say what kind of sub it is or weather or not its a "powered" unit. If its a powered woofer (built in amp) you should take the output directly from the computer output (buy a 1/8 in male to 2 1/8 in female connector, send one output to your original speakers and the left side of the second output to the sub woofer. you can usually adjust the level of the sub (if powered) with a control on the unit. if you need more help, contact me but please tell me more about what you have.

My altec lansing mx5021 speakers problem

The problem I have found is the contact glue between the back panel and circuit board inside the sub woofer. The glue becomes conductive after some time (2 years..!!) and needs to be scraped away from across tracks, you can tell the problem areas as the glue is pale yellow but goes brown and conductive over time. Good luck.

Subwoofer not working

Hi, What speakers (+sub) are you using (brand/model)? You have to consider whether it is basic 2, or 5.1 or 7.1. the Dell Dimension 9200C uses multiple sound connector at the back, the center/LFE connector (orange) should go to the sub-woofer in a 5.1 or 7.1 speaker system. An online manual is available @ http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim9200C/en/SM_EN/about.htm Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things are or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
