The motor on the Kenmore refrigerator is running continuously. How do I stop it? I just cleaned out the dust from the coils underneath and replaced the kick-plate at the bottom

The motor on the Kenmore refrigerator is running continuously. How do I stop it? I just cleaned out the dust from the coils underneath and replaced the kick-plate at the bottom I have a Kenmore Elite Model 106.53206202. The fan runs continuously and the food in the freezer compartment is cold at about 0 degrees Fahrenheit. The bi-metal fan evaporator and heater (part #2187824) was recently replaced. There is some frost buildup on the inside of the freezer, but I attribute that to air entering the freezer compartment through the ice dispenser. The door seals were cleaned and the coils were cleaned. Is there something else that could be wrong with the refrigerator?

Hi: I've dealt with Kenmore for 30 years. Unfortunately the new model numbers don't reveal the age. I must assume it's a newer model. I'm not disputing what you said about it running all the time, but please read on. Oddly enough the new energy efficient referigators run 70 to 80% of the time. They use a smaller compressor without the big amperage start-up. The best I can describe them is that they freewheel alot. The 106......of your model number means it was built by Whirlpool. A very quite and energy efficent refrigerator. If your power bill is high get a meter from your power company, most have them. Just to double check the power consumption. Good luck Jeff

You can purchase several different attachments/brushes specifically designed for hard-to-get-at coils, as well as a soft brush, at your favorite store.

Stopped cooling. called repairman who blew dust and dog hair out from underneath fridge. started cooling right away. 4 days later stopped cooling again. we did more vacuuming underneath because there...

a normal vacuum won't get out most of the debris ,, if you can get your hands on a compressor,, use air to blast the coils out,, then it gets blown out correctly

My refrigerator and freezer worked fine until after a power outage. Now the unit will not cool at all, and the fan runs constantly. What should I look for?

The condenser coils dissipate heat. If dust and debris accumulate around the coils, your refrigerator may not be able to cool properly, it may run continuously(non stop fan action) or it may stop completely as a result of an overheated compressor. You should clean rear-mounted coils once a year. Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning. Refrigerators are heavy, never tip one forward or backward. Never attempt to move a refrigerator without an assistant. Vacuum or brush the coils. If coils have a filmy build-up, use warm soapy water to clean them. Take care not to spill or drip water onto the components of the refrigerator. You should clean floor level coils at least twice a year. Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning. Vacuum or brush the coils. Remove the grill from the front of the refrigerator and use a vacuum with a wand attachment to remove any dust and debris. The grill should snap off and on. Pull firmly toward you and possibly upward to remove the grill. If it does not come off with a modest effort, check for screws or retaining clips that may hold it in place.

Now, Once the coils are cleaned, simply re- introduce power to the unit, and observe for a couple of hours. If the fan continues to run, and there is no cooling affect, this will indicate that the main control aboard(PCB), is damaged. It must be replaced in this case.

My freezer works fine until I turn on my ice maker then it gets w

Hi, Check and see if the condensor fan motor is running, Sometimes the dust from underneath will block the fan. Make sure the compressor and the evaporator fan inside the freezer are running as well.
Please let me know what you find and let me know if I can assist you further.

Whirlpool Gold Refrigerator

When this area gets very hot, it's usually because of inadequate air flow across the condenser coils under the refrigerator. Check to see if the condenser fan has stopped blowing underneath. Remove any obstructions or replace the fan motor if it has stopped. Also clean any accumulation of dust from the coils. The refrigerant line runs down the divider at the front of the unit to warm it slightly and prevent condensation and/or frost there, but it should not be noticeably hot.
