Question about Sony PFM-42B1 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television
I was watching my PFM 42b1 and I heard a snapping sound and it went off. Now the standby light just blinks 6 times goes off for 3 seconds and blinks 6 times again. What is wrong and it is worth fixing?
Here's what it says in the service manual for 6 blinks, pause, 6 blinks, etc.:
Detection of at the left side of panel temperature (Name of this function on the service menu : TEMPERATURE-PANEL SIDE)
Occurrence of abnormality and fault is judged solely from the internal temperature of the PFM-42B1/B1E. Measurement of the ambient temperature aims mainly at confimation of the operating environment. Therefore, there is no chance to indicate this warning message.
Warning of high temperature at 85C or higher.
this problem seems to be known as "blinking light of death"
basically after searching through loads of info, this is happening to a lot of people and should be returned to be fixed/replaced, this should be covered under a warranty.
I hope this helped, good luck!
