Alarm - paper jam slide platen left - but no jam - won't copy

Canon copier image class D861 Alarm on, says paper jam slide platen to left - there was never any paperjam and have opened and closed and slid everything we can think of even took the cartridge back out and put in. Any ideas on how to get it to clear the alarm message and allow us to copy?

The paper jam is more than likely in the fuser assembly. unfortunately you will need a service tech to come out and fix that issue.

Sometimes the paper is squashed and stuck in an area that may not be obvious. You may have to remove the cartridges to look closer to see if paper is in fact stuck in the platen. In my experience, when it says there's a paper jam, there is usually paper jammed within the platen or roller.

Rec. Paper Jam slide platen left

There may still be a small sliver of paper somewhere along the paper path. It only takes one small piece to interfere with the mechanism that detects jams and causes the copier to stop working. Since the copier gives you an indication of where the jam is occurring, I would focus my attention in that area, removing trays, using a small flashlight to get a really good look inside.

You need to open and close the front cover to reset the printer and clear the jam error message. See here and search "paper jam".

Error 002 with Canon image class MF 8180 C

I usually open the back cover, top cover, cartridge cover and pull out the paper tray. Sometimes this clears the alarm, if this does not clear the alarm, I unplug the printer for a couple minutes. Between opening and closing the covers and unpluging the printer, the alarm goes away. Ray
