Question about HP Compaq Presario SR1575CL (PX808AA) PC Desktop

Trying to restore to factory default using f10

Wont respond when f10 is pressed nothing hppens Just want to know if there's anyway to re-link the recovery partition with the F10 key? I know it has something to do with the MBR but how? The recovery partition is still there, if I set the partition as active and restart, the recovery process would boot up, but I want to make the F10 works again. Any idea?

The original os is installed, the recovery partition still exist and working if you set it active. But the question is, how to make pressing the F10 key triggers the recovery process again?

  • daspyda May 11, 2010

Is the original factory OS installed? Or, had the disc been reformatted previously and a standalone OS installed?

Try to remove the bios battery for a second..it will reset the bios to the factory settings ...it might just work ...
I believe that the problem its one that developed after you changes some settings or after you installed some device that use that key for a different action ...

Black screen flashing dash top left corner. ....wont reboot after system restore

If its only 3 mnths old should still be under WARRANTY take it back
if its not under warranty

Turn Off the computer now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding Alt key & keep on tapping F10 key ie: Alt+F10, it will open the recovery console select full factory restore and follow on screen instruction. (Note:this will erase all datas on the computer) or

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually delete or the F2 key this will differ depending on which bios you have

I have emachines model W3650 and want to know how to set back to factory setting.

(1) Go to start menu(2) Click on all programs(3) click on Emachine(4) click on Emachine recovery management(5) Click on restore on the bar across the top(6) click on restore to system factory default
Some emachines can be restored by pressing ALT+F10, but not sure on your model. Give it a try if you can't restore it to factory defaults using Emachine recovery management.

I need help on restoring my compaq armada e500

Hi Welcome to FixYa!
You could try these steps on restoring your laptop into its factory defaults.
1)Turn off your computer if it is on. Wait for the system to shut down completely. Once it is off, press the "Power" button to turn it back on. Press the "F10" button at the top of the keyboard repeatedly as soon as you see the screen turn on. This will let you enter the setup menu.
2)Use the arrow keys to move between the various menu tabs at the top of the screen. Press the "Right" button until the "File" tab is highlighted, then press the "Enter" button to enter this menu. Here you can make changes to the settings of your computer, or in this instance, restore factory default settings.
3)Use the "Up" and "Down" arrow buttons to move to the "Restore Defaults" option, then press enter. You will see a screen asking "Are You Sure You Wish to Restore System Defaults?" Press the "Y" button to continue. The system will begin restoring your default settings. Do not press a button until a screen says "System Defaults Restored."
4)Use the arrow keys to move down to the "Save Changes and Exit" option and press "Enter." The system will save your changes and automatically reboot your computer. You do not need to press "F10" this time as the computer will start Windows normally. You will see the factory settings have been restored once the system loads.
Hope this could help!

If you are talking about problem with your password

    You need to prepare:

Get started with this 3 simple steps:

    Gateway GT5028 missing OS

sounds like you got a virus. Does it give you the option on boot up to restore (maybe press F10 or alt + F10) if it was a factory install then they have probably made a factory restore partition on your hard drive but maybe not. other remedys are to purchase a restore disk for the gateway or reinstall windows XP (you might be able to use the XP restore feature) and download any drivers you need from here http://support.gateway.com/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=2844 I would download the drivers with another computer or get a friend to do it as you probably wont be able to connect to the internet without the drivers installed. I have them if you need, but you can get them from the link.

This could be your HDD, failed. Work through, the troubleshooting procedures.
Anyway try this below first. Run Acer eRecovery Management Copy the Acer factory default backup disk Image Create backup of the system Create a complete backup Creating an incremental backup Erase a backup point Using the option ‘‘Burn Disk’’ Burn a backup disc with the factory default settings Burn a backup disc with the parameters of user Copy the current system configuration to disc Burn a disc backup software Restore the system Restore system to factory default settings Restore system from backup user Recover the system from CD / DVD Re-install applications / drivers Other means of System Restore No Restore CD / eRecovery / password / ALT + F10 or F10
