Throw that piece of garbage out and get an HP or Samsung. One of these has plagued my office for years and I've spent countless hours plotting its demise. Worse than useless: unreliable.
If you want to reset your Brother MFC 9440N machine so you no longer have the error message: Toner End of Life, do the following:
1. Open the front cover of the 7820N, that is, the cover that allows you to pull out the toner and drum, but don't pull out the drum/toner. 2. Push the button: Options (located on the left of the control pad). 3. Type: *00 on the keypad.
The Brother MFC 9440N should be reset and the Toner End of Life message should disappear. Warning, this may void your warranty and ultimately damage your machine if you are reusing or refilling your cartridges, but you should already know that. Hope this helps.
1. replace drum unit
2. after replacing reset the counter - press "3" and "9" button at the same time in the ready state, the reset menu will appear on the LCD, select "DRUM" and press "ok"
resetting without actual drum replacement might damage your printer.
Very easy but also expensive. Your drum is finished and you need to get a new one. You may find a cheap one on ebay. Thats the downside to laser printers you don't just pay for toner but also a new drum every 12000 copies or so.
