I have no knowledge of your particular machine, only from A/C's (and heatpumps) in general.
All systems I've ever came across are designed to be subjected to
whatever weather conditions so I doubt the actual machine would be the
problem. It would never have been approved if it can't stand some rain,
snow, hail, what have you. My own A/C / heatpump is always on, even during thunderstorms.
More likely it could be a bad installation causing the problem, wrong
type of cabling, inappropriate housing for electrical connections and
switches, etc. This, in turn, could have damaged the machine if you
have bad luck.
If you are unsure about the status of your installation, I'd advice you
to contact professionals to troubleshoot and correct the problems. It is especially important to get it absolutely right when it comes to electrical installations outdoors and in wet environments.
