Cannot access my hotmail a/c comes up server not found

Servers provide information for websites, hold Web pages, protect other computers from infection, provide authentication services and hold large numbers of files. Servers also connect email systems together. The average Web surfer encounters many servers in a day without realizing it. The mention of servers only arises when things go wrong. For example if the Hotmail Mail Server is inaccessible the user will receive an error message that the server cannot be found.

Client-Server In standard network communication all computers fall into one of two categories: clients and servers. Servers are bigger computers with large storage capacity and fast processing power. A server centralizes services that enable applications running on client computers to have access to more resources than their own computer could handle. The client is the local computer, the one the user accesses. The local computer, the client, contacts a remote computer, the server, with a request for a service. If the server is available, it responds with the requested service or resource. b> Hotmail Hotmail uses several types of servers. The screen the user accesses is actually an email client. It lists delivered email and enables users to write new emails. Originally, this program was always resident on the user's computer. Hotmail revolutionized the provision of email services by making this interface available on a website. The website itself is hosted on a Web server. The chain of clients and servers in a simple email transaction with email can soon become complicated. The user, on a home computer, is sitting at the client. The client program is the Web browser. The Web browser contacts a Web server to get and display the Hotmail page. b> Hotmail Servers b> Although the Hotmail page is resident on a server, it is a mail client and is also called a Mail User Agent, or MUA. It sends all outbound emails to a server called a Mail Submissions Agent, or MSA. The MSA sends the email to a server called a Mail Exchange, or MX, which then forwards it to another server called a Mail Delivery Agent, where the email sits until the user commands the mail client to go and find any new emails. b> Missing Server b> The server that Hotmail reports it was not able to find could be the Mail Submissions Agent, the Mail Exchange, or the Mail Delivery Agent. If the message arise during the sending of an email, the likelihood is that it is the Mail Submissions Agent that could not be contacted. If the error message occurs when Hotmail goes to find new received emails, it is likely to be the Mail Delivery Agent that could not be contacted. In either case, the user's connection is with the Web server and not either of these servers. There is little that the user can do to fix this problem other than try again later.

I am at present in Belgium, coming from Switzerland, and I am connected with a fixe net line. At the beginning I was able to receive mails but could not send them, now I don t receive neither can I send...

Try to turn off the email scanning of your Antivirus.
You may have to change the email server information over to the one that is in Belgium. Looks like your computer is still trying to use the one from Schweiz.

I can't get Outlook set up for my new ymail account. I keep getting asked for my user name and password. Then I get an error message: Task 'plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com - Sending' reported error (0X800CCC92)...

my understanding is that you need to have yave yahoo plus to get this to work, yahoo plus is the paid version for you to have pop access which means be able to use an email client (like outlook) to retrieve yahoo mail there.
now if you have not paid for yahoo plus you can do the following:
1. switch your yahoo account to be localized to asia, which should also (for now) allow you to use pop access on a free yahoo account, you need to look around into the account options (Its under Account Info, Account Settings,Set Language Site and Time Zone or something like that)
2. once 1 has been completed go into yahoo and add your yahoo account, * for logon info use only your yahoo user name (not the @yahoo.com) * enter your correct password *for incoming email server: pop.mail.yahoo.com *for outgoing email server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
3. go into more settings>advance * incoming server port should be 110 *outgoing server port should be 587
good luck

Cannot connect to subscriber in China

Typically this error indicates that you are trying to send your Adhost email through Adhost’s mail server when you have not authenticated your email account to send mail. Our mail server authenticates you through your pop account. So when you check your email, our mail server authenticates your pop user and password, captures that IP that you are checking your email from, and adds that IP to our relay list. This list is flushed every 70 minutes. This means, if you try to send email after the relay list has been flushed and before you’ve attempted to check your email, you will receive this error.

How to fix the problem:

Fix #1 - reauthenticate on our server.

Remove any email from your Outbox. If you need to keep the message, you can move it to your 'Drafts' folder.
Click "Send/Receive". This will reauthenticate you.
Try resending the email.
Fix #2 - configure your email client to check for email before sending.

In Outlook, go to "Tools" and select "Email Accounts". Make sure "View or change existing e-mail accounts" is checked. Click Next.
Select your account from the list and click "Change".
Select "More Settings".
Select "Outgoing Server".
Check "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication".
Select "Log on to incoming mail server before sending mail".
Click "OK", then "Next", then "Finish".

This will fix your problem

Microsoft Outlook 2002, error: Relay access denied - 554 5.7.1

Hello and thank you for using Fixya's services.

I have seen around ten questions just like yours today. What email service are you using? This sounds like a problem with the server on the emaill side. It should go back to norm in a few days if not sooner.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

I get this error when trying to ''Send and Receive'' email using my computers Windows Mail. The host 'pop3' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account:...

It looks as if the server name is not complete. where is your email coming from? you'll need to know that and the email server (for example: mail.ptd.net for penteledata customers). Or, pop.gmail.com for gmail users. Get that server, then go into your account settings and put the server name into the Incoming Server blank. once you do that and save it (also make sure your outgoing server is correct) you should be fine.

Can receive emails but cannot send emails

Send problems. There are several common causes of problems with sending email:

  • Mail queued. If you appear to be able to send email but it never arrives, it may be in a queue. Some applications put email in a queue when you send it, and the user has to manually send all queued mail to actually transmit it. Check your File and Edit menus for any queues, and also check the status of the email in the Out mailbox to see if it was actually sent -- if not, send it again.

  • Send on check. This is a common problem -- many email servers are configured to use the password authentication involved with checking mail to allow the sending of mail, and therefore require clients to check for mail at the same time or just before sending mail. If you get an intermittent error message and can send at some times and not others, make sure the option "send on check" is enabled in your email settings. As a temporary fix, you can often solve the problem by manually checking for mail shortly (a few seconds or minutes) before sending mail. This problem can also produce the message "relaying not allowed" described below, for much the same reason.

  • Relaying not allowed. Many Internet access providers require clients within their network to use their own servers for sending mail, as a policy intended to cut down on email spammers sending spam through other provider's servers. If you have more than one email address and can download mail without problems from a POP account with a different domain name than is used by your Internet access provider, but get the error "Relaying not allowed" when you try to send, then you probably need to set the outgoing SMTP server address to the mail server of your Internet service provider, instead of your email provider. Search your Internet network provider's home page or call technical assistance to obtain the address of their SMTP server, and enter it in your email client settings (first copy and save your existing server setting in case you need to set it back). This error message can also be produced by the "send on check" issue described in the bullet above.

  • Server down. If you can do a successful connection check, and the above suggestions don't help, and a recipient continues to say that email sent from you does not arrive, and you are certain their address is spelled correctly, then one of the email servers between you and your destination is likely down. Blocked email is typically cached and sent when the missing server comes back up, usually within a few hours or days. If the problem persists and you can successfully send to other email addresses, then the email provider of your recipient is likely having a problem -- you should contact them by phone and ask them if they are getting email from anyone else, request they send an email to you, and if necessary suggest they do a connection check from their end to help diagnose the problem.
