Nintendo DS left speaker not working

I traced the problem back to the motherboard.
Anyone have a clue which component coul be bad?
The headphone works on both sides.

Thanks, Arnold.

Everything in the top half is new: screen, cable to bottom half, pcb's, all except for the speakers.
I exchanged them from left to right, that didn't help so the speakers are both fine.
I tested the top to bottom cable with a multimeter, pin 51 is left speaker+ , tested fine.

The problem is, i can't see where pin 51 on the motherboard goes.

Here's a picture of the motherboard.

Pin 51 is the left pin on the bottom row of the connector.

Go to DealExtreme.com they sell cheap NDS parts, maybe you can find the part and replace it, free shipping from them, just takes about 4-6 weeks to get the gear.

Well, here's the thing. None of the speakers physically attaches to the motherboard. Speakers are soldered onto the points on the TOP LCD. The TOP LCD then hooks into the motherboard. I would suspect its a speaker problem , a cold solder point or anything.

Break your Nintendo DS down fully and check out the solder points.

Or, you could reflow the board if you see no broken solder points.

Yea, that's the bad part about the Nintendo DS boards. Everything's so small. Possible you can take a picture of your pin and your board and I can show you exactly where it's suppose to go.

Try leaving the DS on until the battery dies, then charge it all of the way with the DS off. If that doesn't work, I would call Nintendo customer service. They are excellent at helping people with problems just like this. Here is the 800 number I got off of their website. 1-800-895-1672

My nintendo ds lite as no sound but it works fine with head phones in can you help me please

It works well with the headphones?
Well.. That's odd.
Check the left side of your DS volume.
there's a toggle button that says
- VOL +
======
toggle it rightly,as the volume will get higher. Maybe your headphones can adjust the volume. So either contact www.nintendo.com or call Nintendo 1-800-255-3700. Or if you like your DS with headphones, keep it that way.

Nintendo DS Sound Not Working

You might have a wire of some sort out of place as you suggested. I would not try to take of any part of the DS, because if you hit something wrong, or can't get it back together, them you may have to get a new DS. Did your daughter spill something on her DS, or drop it?

If you don't know what happened to the DS, then it may be the companies problem. if your daughter recently got the DS, then you can return it to the store, or send a direct complaint to the company. Even if she got it a long time ago, if it suddenly starts not working at full efficiancy, send it back to nintendo. If you still have the repicet, then send back to the store and tell them what happened.

Hope it helps~

Nintendo DS Lite dropped in puddle breifly, speakers don't work

Well you do know the ribbon cable that connects the two screens is in the left hinge right? You will need to get it repaired eventualy. You many need to check if the ribbon cable is damaged in any way, if it is you will need to repair it or get it repaired. If you choose to do it yourself i'de suggest following this guide. Good Luck!

No sound on nintendo ds. How do I fix?

The speakers are wired from the ribbon cable that also provides the top screen illumination. That cable gets plenty of abuse by opening & closing the DS. Could be a break/tear in that ribbon cable. Does either speaker work? both are bad? If neither work, it's a rather involved process to fix yourself (soldering, etc). You can mail it away for service. Call Nintendo to get a quote.

Stylus tip stuck in headphone jack(no sound!)

Yes, here is a guide to dismantle an original Nintendo DS:

How to dismantle a Nintendo DS.

If yours is the NDS Lite, just find this video in youtube:

"Disassembling Nintendo DS Lite"

And after opening it you may need to replace or try to repair the audio plug. In case you cant, then you must take it out (desoldering it with the stuck stylus tip and the mute switch, which is embeded in the headphone jack) and you can have your audio back.
As the audio switch and the jack only work to mute the speakers audio usually when you plug a headphone then you can lack of it almost all times.

Nintendo DS won't power on

PJ If youve installed the sc OS following instructions from http://eng.supercard.cn/soft_scdsone.htm , leaving the "MSFORSC.NDS" file and "scshell" folder at the root of the card then chances are the Card itself is bad. This is not uncommon and happens especially after a few dumps. If its not to old try an exchange or see if a friend has one and attempt theres in your system.
