Whirlpool Dryer blows but no head. Replaced

There are TWO components mounted on the outside of the heater box next to the heating element. the one closest to the heating element is the Hi-Limit Thermostat, the other (mounted at the end opposite the heating element terminal) is the Thermal Cut-Out (TCO). These two components work in conjunction to regulate and protect the heating element.

The following link explains how to troubleshoot these components and what the resistance readings should be:

IMPORTANT: If the TCO is found to be defective, it is recommended you replace the Hi-Limit Thermostat as well. Failure to do so can result in premature failure of any parts you replace. These two components are commonly sold as a set.

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

All these sites are reputable and offer great service with competitive pricing, so shop and compare. The first three sites I listed also include helpful exploded view parts diagrams to assist you in locating and properly identifying the parts you need. If you do not wish to order parts on line, you can use the part numbers from the Sears website and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. These components are commonly sold as part of their in-store inventory.

If you have any questions about this repair, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

My whirlpool dryer does not heat. I have checked the breaker.. what else can I do?

turn the power off,, remove the back of the dryer usually screws all around.... Check your heating element for breaks or damages,, check your thermostats there should be 3,, check your thermal fuse .

no heat on a electric whirlpool dryer is either an element, fuse, or thermosat. U can check all these with a metere for continuity. put one lead on each connection if it reads sometin it is okay if it reads nothin than it is defective and u should replace it....

if u like you can go to go to parts and service far right upper corner usually, go to parts,, then u should be in parts dirrect enter your model number usually on inside on sticker when open door this way u can get a parts breakdown and get part numbers and prices on potential parts hope this helps let me know how it goes bro good luck

Electric dryer doesn't heat.

Probably a bad heating element. There are a few different styles, you'll just need to lookup your model number on an appliance parts website, find the right part, and then do a quick search on replacement. There are probably ten or fifteen websites that have instructions to replace heating elements.

Here's one where you can buy the part, the element is part number 17.

Kenmore dryers are manufactured by Whirlpool. In many cases the part numbers are identical between model numbers. Look at the dimensions of the heating element and compare part numbers. Chances are, the parts are identical.

No heat

Check the resistance of the heating element (8 to 14 ohms). If ok, then check continuity of the overload devices attached to the heat element duct. If either one or both are open then replace ($14 for both). Dryer should heat.

If heat element is faulty, the part can be purchased at Sears/Kenmore Parts Center and swapped out ($45.00).

Provide your dryer model number and ask for the needed parts.

Unplug your dryer first before attempting any service work. Safety first and always!
