Inspiron 530S Power Save Mode

A friend's (not computer literate, I am, but am no Guru) Inspiron 530S is in what appears to be a power save mode loop. At power on, screen shows green power light, "auto detecting", and loud fan (compared to before problem). Then screen shows going to power save mode and solid yellow light. It appears to not try to boot, as no F2/F12 show and F8 does not work. When keyboard mouse icon is pressed screen shows green power light and advises to press any keyboard key or move mouse. When either are done nothing happens and screen shows going to power save mode and solid yellow light. Cannot access BIOS, Alternate Boot (to run diags), or Safe Modes. My Insiron 530 computer has a "power save mode" that comes on at random times when I am still on the computer. It tells me to move the mouse or hit any key on the keyboard, but that doesn't work. And I have even disabled all "power save mode" options, but it still comes on when I'm still on the computer.

SOURCE: Inspiron 530S Power Save Mode Loop

First you need to make sure that there are no other removable devices plug on the system, like usb, external hard drives, then if that will work try to go to the bios, press f2 when you see the dell logo, and go to the system setup, go to the boot device configuration and make sure that removable device is not the first boot device, if it is the first one choose hard disk and then second boot device ad cd rom/dvd rom and then disable the 3rd boot and the fourth boot device. Make sure to save the changes. And restart the system again. Once the computer is back and running try to go to support.dell.com and check the bios, download if there is a bios update for the system.

Dell Inspiron 530s Desktop fan motor keeps running

It\'s NOT the fan. Check the power save settings on the computer ITSELF. Check your BIOS settings as well. Inspirons ALL do the same thing with waking up.

Do you get a screen if you boot from the CD/DVD drive using the Windows installation CD/DVD disc. If not, you probably dis-lodged
a cable or plug when installing the drive.

Inspiron 530 auto goes into power save mode

Click Start/Control Panel/Power Options and change the length of time or set it to NEVER.

There might also be settings in the Bios or System Setup that you can tweak. When you reboot your machine, watch the screen for which key it says to hit to get into the Bios or System Setup and hit that key when you see the message.

Dell Inspiron 530 S goes into power save mode and either fails to respond to pressing a key or powers off

test the PSU if the power supply units fan is not working the psu is faulty
check leads from motherboard to hard drive make sure connections are secure and dust free including electrical extensions
if its a 40pin ide this will be the first to fail

even something as small as a faulty fan lead can cause this ptoblem
computers need power and data to travel through every working device and to continue its cycle and have a finishing point

make sure your ram and cmos battery are dust free and securely seated
on some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in
hope this helps

My 5305 constantly goes into power save mode

Hi

Thank you for your query

This is a common fault on Dells please try the following

It seems it is a motherboard battery problem. try this.
It most likely is not the monitor which is in "power save mode", it is the computer itself.

When you cannot get a computer out of "power save mode" by any other means, typically the cause is that the button-cell-type battery of your computer, which is located on the motherboard, is empty.

Usually, this happens on a computer which is a few years old, since its batteries will have run out after such a long time. (The motherboard battery is used to store various settings when the computer power is off, such as date and time. When your computer detects this battery is empty, it goes into a low-power mode).

The solution is to replace the button-cell battery on the motherboard of your computer:

- open the case of your computer;
- visually locate the motherboard (the main electronic circuit board) of your computer;
- visually scan the motherboard for a button-cell battery (it looks like a digital watch battery, but a bit larger);
- remove this motherboard battery from your computer;
- restart your computer: it should now power up normally (you may get some warning messages during the start-up sequence, but ignore them);
- set the date and time of your computer using the "Date and Time" control panel;
- you can now use your computer normally, but you will lose date and time

If this has been useful please leave positive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank you again
