HI, the high voltage capacitor is unstable and, it has damaged the Magnetron. you will need to replace the Magnetron. it will run you about $191.30. this will restore the heating action in your microwave unit.

My Whirlpool microwave model MH6130XEB-1 made a pop noise and now will no longer heat food. Everything else works fine, clock, timer, fan, turn table, etc. Is this a fuse problem?

It can be the fuse supplying the magnetron, or the magnetron itself which has failed. Another suspect is the high voltage capacitor in this circuit.

Don't try to fix this yourself as the internals of a microwave are dangerous, with high voltages even when unplugged.

I placed food in the microwave over to heat for 19 seconds, when it was finished I smelled smoke coming from the oven. The food was fine. I unpluged the oven. I tried it a couple of days later, it...

the smoke probably came from the heated food. try using it next time with different kind of foods and also try it to the same kind of food that produces smoke but observe carefully what will happen.

I replaced the bulbs in the underside of the microwave but the lights still won't turn on, can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong or something else I need to do? It's a whirlpool model # MH6130XEB-1

whirlpool model # MH6130XEB
You did not say if the machine works otherwise.

I gather you replace the bulbs in the ventilation section;
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=260489

Click on the diagram 8 in the left-hand side for ventilation for those bulbs.

Is it plugged in ?

You can check.
Line Fuse
Thermal Fuse
You can find a diagram at;
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=260489

Click on the diagram 5 in the left-hand side for interior parts and another bulb.

You can check;
Switch;
You can take a voltmeter and place it on the bulb contacts and see if voltage is present when the machine is switch on.

Microwave doesnt heat food

Microwave not heating problems are the result of one or more of the following problems -

1) Bad fuse
2) Bad diode
3) Bad capacitor
4) Bad transformer
5) Bad magnetron.

You would need to have special equipment to test the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th items.

Microwave doesn?t turn on

If you're getting power at the outlet, the most common problems causing a "dead" condition are a bad thermostat (or thermal cutout / thermal fuse) on or near the magnetron, a blown internal fuse, or a problerm on the control circuit board. You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383 If it seems to be a problem on your control board, we repair these for $39.95 nationwide in most cases. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Mircowave works, exhaust door opens, fan stop working

From looking at the owner's manual, it looks like the vent fan is only supposed to come on when the internal temperature of the microwave gets too high OR when you press the VENT FAN pad. Here are a couple of fan-related excerpts from the owner's manual, which can be found here: http://products.geappliances.com/ProdContent/Dispatcher?REQUEST=SKUOBJECTS&DOCUMENT=Use%20and%20Care%20Manual&SKU=JVM1840BD (or the better URL here: http://tinyurl.com/yn7r6g) Automatic Fan An automatic fan feature protects the microwave from too much heat rising from the cooktop below it. It automatically turns on if it senses too much heat. If you have turned the fan on, you may find that you cannot turn it off. The fan will automatically turn off when the internal parts are cool. It may stay on for 30 minutes or more after the cooktop and microwave controls are turned off. - Vent Fan The vent fan removes steam and other vapors from surface cooking. Press VENT FAN once for high fan speed, twice for medium fan speed, a third time for low faw speed, or a fourth time to turn the fan off. Press the VENT FAN BOOST pad for extra fan speed. - Hope this helps.
