Question about Hitachi 43FDX01B TV

1 Answer

Hitachi 43FDX01B green is out of whack

The problem is this, mainly the green is off. I went into the convergence correction, and I can adjust the red and blue(which are fine) but the does not give me the capability to fix the green. I have manually centered the green, however the line itself is still curved in the convergence adjustment. Both the top part of the line and the bottom part of the line are centered, but the rest bows out to the right. The Model itself does not give me the option to adjust the green, and I am wondering if it might be out of focus or something. Any help is appreciated.

The green is not adjustable in the customer menu because it is considered the 'master' color. It is adjustable in the technician mode however but if it is curved it won't even adjust properly that way either. The problem is the convergence ampifier responsible for green convergence has failed. The convergence output IC's need to be replaced.

Try adjusting the convergence. If it won't move see below- (or hitting Magic Focus for some Hitachi’s)

This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

Convergence lines on the Hitachi 43FDX01B

Download this manual:-

http://schematicsforfree.com/archive/file/_newly_uploaded/Hitachi_DCAM_Manual.pdf and do the Red touch up on page 63. However I would read the rest of the manual as well so that you get the full understanding.

If you still cannot converge the Red then you will need to replace the two Convergence IC's and associated resistors. Details of how to do this are here:- http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=21847

Remember that there are VERY HIGH VOLTAGES present in an RPTv even when it is disconnected. So disconnect it from the mains for at least 4 hours before you enter the set, this will give time for the high voltage to discharge.

Good luck!
