Woops - seem to have killed my laptop!

Hi,

REcently posted the below problem.  Now have put it back as originally but now it won't even start up!!  Is there a way of rebooting it please??

Thanks

"Have recently put an extra 1GB memory to my Toshiba Satellite A100 (XP professional).  Opened the back, put in extra 1GB memory (from Legend) into the obvious place- and it appears to work - but exactly the same as before!!  Can't find anywhere where the new memory shows up, just the old 512 MB.  Is there something else to do like set it up somehow to recognise the new memory??  What test can be run to see if it is "

Right-click My Computer/Properties to see what memory is listed.
It's possible this memory is incompatible, but that would usually cause a no-boot situation.
Check the maker's specs to see what memory is suggested/approved.
I can't do this without the full model number.

I need help on electrical on my 2000 Yamaha r6

Hi, Tabatha look for a major pinched wiring harness and check your battery ground cable where it attaches to the frame or engine being loose, rusted or corroded for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Yamaha, despair not, for a mere $0 you can download another one. I accidentally hit the kill switch on my scooter when it was running, now i can't get it to start at all. what do i need to do??

Hi, Beth it is possible that if you rarely use the kill switch it has become contaminated and faulty, you may be able to remove and refurbish the contacts or replace if necessary. For more information about your issue please click on the links below. Good luck and have nice a day.

My odometer was flashing when I stopped when I continue down road it went blank cut bike off try to start back it killed battery couldn't even charge it

Hi, Wesley and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Bank angle sensor tripped and ignition/light key switch not cycled to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position.
5. Faulty starter button/switch.
6. Faulty jiffy stand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
7. Security alarm needs a reset.
8. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
9. Electric starter shaft pinion gear is not engaging or over-running starter clutch slipping.

Put a load of laudry in the dryer that was still holding water. Dryer stopped running and there was water sitting in the dryer. Now the dryer won't run

Hello, Welcome to FixYa.

There are a couple of scenarios which may prevent the dryer from starting with Bosch.

To save time and back and forth dialog, I`ll mention the most likely based on your description, "put a load of laundry in the dryer that was still holding water. Dryer stopped running and there was water sitting in the dryer. Now the dryer won't run"...and what to do about it.

**Unplug the dryer before attempting any repair tips suggested here please...safety first**

There is an auto shut off or emergency kill switch next to the motor which will prevent it to start in the event it was tripped for whatever reason... likely from the excessive weight of the load you put in.

It will look like this image below and all you need to do is push it to the right ( from the back )...

i.e.

If you`ve already taken the back of the dryer off to gain access you should have no problem. If you never have, it`ll take some time.

Either Scenario I alluded to ( the other would be resetting the hi-limit cut out, you can see through the back vent opening when the vent is removed and then by pushing the red button in...shown below ) will require the removal of that panel so let me know if you require further assistance to do this.

Keep me posted how you make out or if anything is not clear.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and good luck.

No power when trying to start

No power as in it won't even crank over? Is the battery ok? Try jumping it or putting it on the battery charger. If that seems ok, maybe a bad connection at the battery post. Does it even click or try to do something.

My laptop won't turn on, and the charger doesn't seem to be doing anything. even when plugged in, it won't start. ideas?

You've to replace the ac adapter, if it's brick doesn't get warm or LED does not glow on Power Jack on the laptop. offcourse, check with the wall different sockets

power jack can also be loose. so jiggle the cable to find out.

if notebook is getting power, you can remove the battery, ac adapter, hold and keeep pressing poer button for a minute, then, turn it on.

finally, you can take out hdd and ram, put them back again and turn on the laptop. hope it will help

I had a rubbing sound in a bosch nexxt 100 series Dryer and it was caused by the cheap plastic cover that was put on the front on this Dryer, which broke off and dropped down in to the wheel and tub area....

Hello Andy,

Welcome to FixYa.

There are a couple of scenarios which may prevent the dryer from starting, but I can narrow it down to two probabilities based on your description...even further depending on how you went about taking it apart.

To save time and back and forth dialog, I`ll mention the most likely and what to do about it.

**Unplug the dryer before attempting any repair tips suggested here please...safety first**

There is an auto shut off or emergency kill switch next to the motor which will prevent it to start in the event it was tripped while you took it apart or the plastic piece jamming it up.

It will look like this image below and all you need to do is push it to the left ( from the back )...

i.e.

If you`ve taken the back of the dryer off to gain access to the plastic piece which feel off you should have no problem, however if you did it by removing the top this will be a little more involved.

Either Scenario I alluded to ( the other would be resetting the hi-limit cut out you can see through the back vent opening when the vent is removed and then by pushing the red button in...shown below ) if the rear panel is in it`s original position will require the removal of that panel so let me know if you require further assistance to do this.
