My Zenith tv model c27v36 went black while in use. The power indicator will come on but still black screen. Pushing any other button turns it off again. Is there any hope?

If I recall right, there is a main color chip that runs hot and seems to be a major video problem. Open the back of the set and look for this chip. It's about 4 inches long, 2 inches high and 1/2 inch thick. It's black. When you find this devise, look closely if it has a crack in it or looks as though it's been overly hot. If you do change this chip, make sure you use lots of heat sink compound(grease) on the back when reinstalling, as the heat sing grease is what causes this problem as it gets old it hardens and doesn't transfere heat as necessary.

Hi. First, open your browser.
I'm guessing by your statement that somehow facebook has turned into your home page, so here is how to fix that.
These instructions are for Firefox, Internet explorer instructions are further down.

Ok, now, leave the first page open for now, and open a new tab.
Immediately click the stop button, so that no page opens.

Next in the address bar type: and press enter.
This should give you the google website.
Next, Left click on the little g logo that is at the beginning of the address bar, and hold down the mouse button, and drag it to on top of the browsers home button.
It should pop up a box that either asks, or states, that google is being added as your home page.

This is the way to do it for foxfire.

Now, here is how to change your homepage in internet explorer.

You can do this with or without a browser being open.

With is easier, just from instruction standpoint, but after a couple of steps, it is the same for IE

Open IE browser
click the tools tab
click internet options
OK, this will pop up the internet properties box
Change the address of the homepage from to
Delete the facebook entry on the homepage list
click apply
This should take care of the problem, but before you close the internet property box click delete history, and have the system delete your browsing history.
It may make a few webpages load a little slower, but it could be a cookie is what is making facebook always be on top.
Delete your browsing history in firefox as well.

Then reboot, and try opening a browser.
It should work normal for you again.

I recently decided to use the basic CATV service that comes with my internet subscription; however, my two TVs will not auto-tune to the CATV frequencies. The TV's are about 10 and 20 years old. Any...

all4brices, Did a "cable guy" install cable boxes on tv's or r u using the coax cable straight into the TV sets? Are TV sets still in the "over the Air" mode or have you already set them to auto detect cable frequencys? You did not state who is your signal provider!!! Is it the PHONE company or is it COMCAST or XYZ ISP? Bye for now!

Won't work on ac

1. Make sure the AC power source is ok.
2. Make sure the AC power cord is good with no damage.
3. Look to see if there is a reset button on the rear of the set. If not, then look for a blown AC fuse inside the set.

Since the set works fine on +12VDC, the majority of the TV set is ok. You have a problem in the AC power supply. It could be a blown fuse, bad rectifier / regulator, bad step-down transformer.

The TV typically runs from +12VDC. The AC supply steps-down the 120VAC and rectifies it into +12VDC to power the TV. At some point in the TV, there is junction point where the +12VDC from the sets internal AC supply meets the external +12VDC power source. Usually they are electrically isolated from each other with a switch or with diodes.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!

I just repaired a Hitchi with the same problem ( I had to do a full adjust on the convergence board via a remote control) I finally came up with a set of instructions to do the full converg. I don't know if these instructions would be helpful for you or somewhat match your set, but send me your fax number and I'll fax the instruction sheet to you ( as I received them)., NC Electronic, PO Box 1696, Mills, Wyoming 82644 307-266-4675
