Looking for a driver for wireless card in aspire 1692wlmi

Try re-installing the wireless card driver and the configure the wireless card to the wireless router's wireless settings. You can also have a look at the wireless card settings in the computers that is connecting to the wireless router/Internet and then apply these settings to the wireless card in the Acer.

Check the components near by CPU fan connector. May be there is a minor shorting or soldering.

Have you installed the correct driver? The 5742G could be installed with an Atheros or a Broadcom wireless card, and these use different drivers.

You can either visually check which make of card is installed in your laptop, or try both drivers and see if either one works.

Failing that, perhaps your wireless card has physically failed in some way and needs replacing.

What about the drivers? take a look at the device manager.

its very easy if you have a recovery disk put in your cdrom then go to the bios change the setting you boot to cdrom..

If your wireless adapter is not appearing in Device manager open the cover on the bottom of the lap top and make sure the wireless card is properly connected, next look for an external switch that might have been accidentally turned off. If everything is good then you may want to try a new wireless card for the PCMCIA Slot.

check in device manager, is your wireless card detected in device manager ?
if not, it's look like your wireless card is defective.
if yes but there is question mark, you need to re-install wireless driver.
if yes, and it isnot detect any network, is wireless card in your device manager enable ? if disable, right click on wirelees card and choose enable.
if step above not working, try to enable using wireless switch .
