The display flashes 'H'., alternating with the number of copies from the last job. No buttons or keys respond. Tried power on and off a few times, no change.

I see the user manual says contact your SHARP service center immediately and is no further help. But a bit of websearching revealed

Error Codes Starting with "H" are fuser faults.

H2-00 Fusing unit temperature error
H3-00 Overheated fusing unit
H4-00 The fusing unit doesn't heat up

If you haven't got the user manual it is here:- http://www.sharpusa.com/files/cop_man_AR162S.pdf

Importantly it shows how to release the fusing unit. If you cant see an obvious problem then you may need to get a new fusing unit.

You may need to reset the copier to clear the error so it can try starting again when you switch on.

Advice on how to re-set sharp ar 5316 copier, procedure.

Hallow, its my assumption that you know the command numbers and their sub-codes and error codes when you ask of procedure. Here is the procedure:
  1. Press #, Interrupt, 0, Interrupt , keys in that order.
  2. The copier display must go off, if not repeat and increase pressing speed.
  3. Enter the desired number and press copy key.
  4. If it has sub-code, then enter it and press copy key.
This is the procedure.

I have replaced my drum cartridge on my sharp copier, however, the drum indicator light remains on. How do I get the light to go off?

I am not sure about the 208 but try this procedure I have posted here on Fixya. I beleive it may work for you. It sure won't hurt to try.

To reset the drum light on just about any Sharp AL or AR series copier press the following key's in sequence and as quickly as possible (with 4 seconds for the first 4 keys)
Press "C" then the far left key (exposure mode) then the "C" key then the far left again.
So in other words C, far left, C, far left
Some model's use 2 other initial codes, so you may need to use one of these 2 alternate codes to get your display to go blank. The rest of the procedure is the same.
Alternate codes are: #, * , C, * or pound,star,C,star and also
#, Interupt, C, Interupt
If done correctly the display should go blank.
Then key in 24 as if you were going to make 24 copies.
Now press the "print" button
Now key in 7 as if you were making 7 copies
Now press the print button again.
You should now be getting flashing zero's on the display.
Turn the machine off then on again and your drum light should be gone!
You can usually reset this counter at least once to get twice the life out of your drum unit.

Sharp AR-285 Error Code ''U2-00'' What does that code mean and can I fix it locally?

A U2-00 is an internal error code from the main processing board's EEPROM (the chip that stores your configuration choices, the copier's serial number, etc.) It can be a faulty EEPROM but most likely the copier took a power hit/glitch and the fault needs to be reset.

To clear the fault make sure the copier is in Copy mode, then press the 'P' key, then the 'Interrupt' key, then the Clear (C) key, then the 'Interrupt' key. This will enter the machine into simulation mode.

Now enter the number 16 and press start. The machine may also ask you to confirm your choice or you may have an 'execute' key on the LCD screen.

Once the fault has been cleared the machine should reboot. If it doesn't, press the 'CA' (clear all) button and the machine should reboot.

If the U2 code persists, you need to call a repair technician to facilitate repairs.

Performing a Fault Reset 14 will reset your WorkCentre and will help to clear error codes.
  1. Find the pink Clear button on the Control Panel of the WorkCentre.
  2. Find the button below the word Auto.
  3. Press these buttons in the following sequence: [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto] NOTE: All of the lights on the Control Panel should go out and the LED Display should go blank. If the lights do not go out, then repeat step 3 until they do. It may be necessary to increase or decrease the pace of the [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto] sequence.
  4. Press the [10's] key one time and the [1's] key four times to enter '14' in the LED Display, as if you were to make 14 copies.
  5. Press the green [Start] button.
  6. Press the pink [Clear] button two times.
  7. The WorkCentre should now warm up and come to ready.
  8. If the above steps do not clear the error code, repeat steps 3 to 6 a second time.

Sharp ar-163 model Error code F1

You can hold down the start key when the F1 is displayed it will show a sub code. The service manual for that model shows only one F1 code which is an F1-06. That is a shifter motor trouble. That is the section after the exit that offsets the copies.

You can reset the code with the instructions below. If the error recurrs then chech the exit section shidter for proper movement. You may require an on site technician to remedy this issue.

To reset the error code:
Hit <clear> <interrupt> <0> <interrupt>
14 <start>
