Access Probelm with DSC-W50 camera

I receive "access" error when I turn on my camera. The lens continually tries to open and close. This repeats until I get a message: to power off and restart again. I tried that many times with no success. I change my battery with no success. I changed my memory stick also without any success. I have tried to do a reset, however I cannot get access to any function keys to begin the reset function My daughter had same problem with her Cyber-shot several years ago too, but her camera was unfixable. Is there any way to diagnose this problem. I dont want to spend about $75 to have a Sony authorized dealer tell me that the camera is not fixable (of course the camera fell out of warranty about 5 or 6 months ago). I have also heard that this situation is fixable if you take the camera cover off. Is this true? Thanks. I receive "access" error when I turn on my camera. The lens continually tries to open and close. This repeats until I get a message: to power off and restart again. I tried that many times with no success.I can not use any functions because of that My camera is not even an year old Please help me as i need to go holiday in 2 days Regards Hitu the lens stuck and when the camera doesn't start up ... any advice please

I receive ''access'' error

The "Access" will stay there until your camera passes it's self lens test. The test runs 3 times, then gives up with an error message. The cause of this problem is most likely a grain of sand somewhere in the lens. Only a camera tech could possibly ever hope to find it. Replace the camera lens.

Turn on but not working

Most all cameras have a "FORMAT" mode that is accessable through your MENU options. Find It and try RE FORMATING YOUR CAMERA. You may lose stored images but it will reset the Camera back to Factory settings. Good Luck

Digital Camera Fault

ACCESS error could happen when lens gets stuck but if it happens when lens moves back and forth without problem it usually means that where the lens assembly plugs into main system board connection is loose. These connections are held in place by a very small thin fragile plastic clip and a few drops could be enough to snap it but not do any other noticeable damage to camera. Camera would need to be opened to see if clip is broken or maybe cable just needs to me reinserted. Either way only open camera if no longer under warranty and you are somewhat handy

This soluction not working

Hi REYPERLA

I`m afraid resetting the camera will not work. The camera has a lens problem and is therefore giving the error.

Contacting your nearest Sony service centre is your only solution.

Sorry about the bad news : (

Access problem with DSC-W50

It's a problem with the lens. Usually, the internal focus lens jams up, or is out of alignment. It has to be opened up to be fixed, and the lens might have to be replaced. Occasionally, you can give the camera a good whack in your hand while it's powering up. Just be very careful not to hit the lens, or the LCD; as they can be permanantly damaged. Hit it with your palm on the corner, or edge. Also be sure the camera doesn't fly out of your hand...then it, or something will break, obviously.
