Question about Computers & Internet

S-video to TV disappears. I use a Dell Inspiron 6400 with ATI Radeon X1400 video card which belongs to my church. I use it primarily for Power Point and video for Childrens Church. I wasn't getting S-video to the TV monitor so I updated the video card driver through Windows, cloned the laptop to the TV and got a good S-video signal to the TV: for about 10 minutes and then the signal disappeared and the video card settings reverted back to being a single monitor. Is my video card going bad? Is there something I am overlooking?

Does that mean the my ATI card is bad?  It used to work fine until recently.  How can I confirm that the video card is at fault?  Thanks for your response!

S-video disappears after a few minutes of use. This is a new problem as it has never surfaced before on this particular machine. (Inspiron 6400). Uninstalled ATI Radeon X1400 drivers and reinstalled driver using Windows XP option; cloned tv to laptop. Worked fine for a few minutes and then the S video to TV disappeared. Video card settings reverted back to single monitor. Is the video card bad? Can I upgrade the video card on the laptop? Any other suggestions?

The Inspiron 6400 uses the fn/f8 key.  The fn/f8 option will not work after the s video disappears.  The computer acts as though it is not seeing the tv signal.   I guess I am asking why the signal disappears after appearing to function normally.  I have the latest driver.  Something is not right.  I will play with it a little more and get back to you some time later this week.

    Thanks

I have had this issue before, when trying to get an image to project on our church projector.
I was able to resolve the issue by changing the resolution of my desktop. For some reason some projectors will not accept certain resolutions through the S-Video.
I had to change them to several setting before I actually had one that looked acceptable. I think that uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers would have been the first thing that I would have tried as well.
But your best bet is to get the projector to see a lower resolution and then increase it as high as it will allow you to go.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

Its unlikely that the card would be bad. press FN+F5 (the button maybe diffrent depending on the model, look at the f1 to f12 keys one of then has a icon for it) there are possibly a few settings so you can press it again to go to the next setting.so press the combination and wait for atleast 30 seconds to make sure the adjustment has time to take effect.

I have instal gta game which is not running and giving error of video memory

You must meet the minimum requirements for the GTA game, the ability to play GTA IV on your laptop without upgrading the parts are very slim. Also GTA doesn't support your video card, you have the ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 Hyper memory graphics set, you need the X1900 or an equivalent to it.

Missing display adapter driver

Hi:
The best way to find the proper driver for your Dell Inspiron 6400 is to search the Dell support site , using your service tag, and not just the model. This way it should point you towards the driver that it was shipped with!
