This is from Dell's website for the XPS 200, these are all the listed LED combinations.

  • Richie Goldsworthy

You can find the PDF file here, the LED combinations are listed on pages 45-47.

Computer do not booting only 5V AUX LED CR1 blinking

13 year old desktop.
both fans dead, PSU and CPU.
that is total power failure.
and is common with ESD events. (or stick in sleep mode or hibernate mode ( even chip latch up is possible)
to cure any desktop PC,
we do this.
remove the line AC CORD.
PUSH POWER BUTTON FROM 10 TO 30 SECONd.
LET THE PC sit for say 1/2 hour. (we are discharging CAP.'s now)

if that fails, get new RTC coin cell battery,
yours if original is no good. and if bad, the BIOS goes nuts.
the life span is 7 years on the RTC battery, so you are getting near 2 times that, why use such and old battery in any PC, for sure that old.?????
then with new battery , go in to bios and click set bios defaults.
now the PC will boot to HDD.

MT version.

Laptop LED Blink on Startup
There are many reasons that a computer does not startup or boot into the Windows operating system. If your computer will not start or boot, you will see or hear symptom to indicate the general area of the problem.
Startup Symptom: LEDs blink but does not start
The blinking LED lights on newer computers, or the beep tones on older computers, will help support agent determine what hardware component is not responding properly. The exact meaning of each code varies with the model, and the user cannot change any of the blink or beep codes.
DO THESE FIRST - Perform a hard reset.
If a PC suddenly fails to boot properly, you should perform a hard reset as the first procedure.
1. Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and media cards. You want to test the computer not the accessories!
2. Disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery and then press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds.
3. Reconnect the AC power adapter (but do not connect the battery), Press the Power button, Look for glowing LEDs near caps lock and num lock keys, and Listen for sounds of a disk drive and fan turning.
Identify the number of blinks or beeps
When there is a start-up problem and you see LED lights on the keyboard blink a few times (between 1 and 8 blinks) do the following actions.
Table of Sample Blink Codes
The following table illustrates the meaning of blink codes used on some notebooks. The blink or beep codes on your computer may have different meanings.
Meaning of Sample Blink Codes for some EFI Notebooks:
1) Number of Blink: Continuous Glow, Blinking LED: Battery power LED, Component: Battery,
Error Condition: The AC adapter is attached and the battery is charging, but does not yet have sufficient charge to power the notebook.
2) Number of Blink: 1, Blinking LED: Caps Lock/Num Lock, Component: CPU,
Error Condition: CPU not functional
3) Number of Blink: 2, Blinking LED: Caps Lock/Num Lock, Component: BIOS,
Error Condition: BIOS corruption failure
4) Number of Blink: 3, Blinking LED: Caps Lock/Num Lock, Component: Memory,
Error Condition: Module error not functional
5) Number of Blink: 4, Blinking LED: Caps Lock/Num Lock, Component: Graphics,
Error Condition: Graphics controller not functional.
6) Number of Blink: 5, Blinking LED: Caps Lock/Num Lock, Component: system board,
Error Condition: General system board failure.
7) Number of Blink: 6, Blinking LED: Caps Lock/Num Lock, Component: BIOS,
Error Condition: BIOS authentication failure.
8) Number of Blink: Continuous blink, Blinking LED: AC power adapter LED, Component: Power adapter,
Error Condition: Insufficient power
Common solutions for issues that cause blinking LEDs or beep tones
When the computer can boot into the BIOS, run the memory test to identify other issues.
Check for loose connections and test the memory
Blink codes are often displayed after a user adds memory to the computer but does not seat the module properly. The LEDs may also blink error codes if a hardware component is loose because the computer was dropped or jarred. The problem could be that the stick of memory or one of the memory slots has a bad connection.
Check for loose memory modules
If a memory module is loose or is not making good contact with the memory slots, the computer does not recognize all of the memory. Reseating the memory module may resolve memory failure errors.

My sony mbx-223 motherboard hanging when windows booting time, setup time working fine

Dont get exactly your problem but i will try to give some tips.

1. Hanged for about 10 to 15 mins, then proceed to windows? if this is the case, then i would check first the boot sequence, sometimes computer uses network boot.

2. Removed external HDD or flash drive when booting.

3. At the BIOS, try to change the SATA mode to compatibility

Once I turn on the laptop it stays stuck on the LG Splash screen, I press F2 to enter bios setup but it just stays on the splash screen, and nothing progresses, I can't do anything,

I've seen issues like this with a bad hard drive. When entering the bios it queries the hard drive first and it's got issues it can hang it up like this. If you have a spare try that. You can try to boot it without a hard drive to see if it gets past this. Some computers won't boot without a hd though. If you've got another computer you can look around online to make a flash drive bootable and use that instead of your hard drive. Lastly, get a new hd.

Black screen on Boot

1. Check the memory modules are correctly installed.
2. Check that all the installed ram is DDR3 - this board will not accept DDR2 andDDR3 together.
3. If you have more than one memory module remove one and try booting. If all is ok try just the other one.
4.Try with DDR2 memory

System not booting, k8n

Have you tried resetting the bios? turn off the computer and remove the power cable connected to the power ATX power supply, look for the "clr_cmos" jumper and change the settings from 1-2 to 2-3 for approx. 10 secs, then return the jumpers to original settings and reconnnect the power cable and turn on the computer. This was the solution when i had the same problem before. Hope this helps you too.

I cannot acces my computer stays at intel screen

Open the computer, and you will see near the bottom right corner a blue jumper on 2 of 3 pins. The pins are J9J4 and the jumper should be on pins 1 and 2.

Turn off the computer and the power supply, remove the little round battery from the motherboard, move the blue jumper to pins 2 and 3 and wait 40 seconds. Reinstall the battery, and then move the blue jumper back to pins 1 and 2.

Turn on the power supply, restart the computer and the BIOS settup utility should appear

Bios hangs

Reseat all cards in system, including the RAM. If it still does not boot try removing one stick of ram at a time to see if it boots. As well as removing extra cards.

Booting problems

As you probably have already figured out your motherboard is running into some type of error during the boot process. Try restarting the computer and pressing the del key several times after a second or two. Can you get into the BIOS now? The first thing I would do is to make this as basic a machine as possible: remove and add in cards (except primary video card), remove all USB components, reduce the size of your memory (RAM) and if you have multiple hard drives remove all except your boot drive. Unplug your computer, plug it back in and reboot, paying close attention to anything that is displayed on the monitor and noting any changes from before. If nothing changes can you tell us some more about the status of the computer or what led up to this? Did you just build it; just install a new part, power problems, anything? Let us know what you turn up and please don?t forget to rate the posting.
