Ice maker works properly.  When ice cup in place, ice drops to door/flap...but does not allow ice to fall.  Door does not open.  ( Door is not frozen)  I can put my finger up and open flap & ice falls into cup.  What is part pulls door open??

Same Problem

Mar 04, 2009

-   I have an LG model LFX25960ST and the light for the ice maker/water in the door suddenly started to blink on and off making the noise when the flapper door opens. It did this continuously for 15 to 20 minutes then stopped. Once it stopped the flapper door no longer opened and the light will occiasionallu come back on and blink. On the advice of a service technician I replaced the PWB display board but that did not correct the problem. It makes a clicking sound when the light is blinking and seems to be coming from what looks like a soleniod behind the display panel. What is causing the flapper door not to function?-   sanorris

-   I own the LG LFX2560SB model and the ice dispenser is having the same problem as adrin435. It makes the ice, and when you try to dispense, you can hear the motor pushes the ice down the shute but the door does not open. Please help.-   AzEC

-   I have the same problem as Darin 435. I have a LG LFX 25960ST where it makes the ice, it falls down to the flap door and stays there. The flap on the door is spring loaded to stay shut, and can only open from the weight of the ice? I've taken the ice holder out, cleaned it and made sure that everything appears to work fine. The only thing I can figure is the plastic flap on the ice container that opens from a selinoid valve is not working right. The metal arm that sticks out from the ice container and goes into a mechanism that trips the arm. When I try to despense the ice cubes I can hear everything working but doesn't discharge the cubes but partially grinds the ice and stays in the shute.-   Guest

The description says you have an LG fridge?  I may need the entire model # from the sticker inside the fridge to tell for sure, but there is a motor behind the dispenser controls that opens the door.  Let me know if you need more help.  Also, you can view parts and diagrams at http://www.appliancepartspros.com/.
