For the past few months I havent been able to play any games at all on my 360. D.V.D's sure,AUDIO CD'S no prob. games just don't wanna load. Sooooo... Anyhow I was surfing around looking for advice to find there is practically none! I just so happened to mention the prob. to my friends father who happens to work in a comp. store. Mind you he has never been inside a 360 and as he told me "I'm not suggesting this is the smartest thing to do BUT!" he said it sounds as if the rom is functioning properly when it searches for a format just not working smoothly. He suggested maybe opening up the rom and greaseing the sliders and worm gear witch I did with white lithium grease. When i fired it back up it still didn't work and my fans started that hard plowing hum. But after two or three times of puting in different games over the span of about two minutes ZIP ZIP ZIP...and off it took the fans slowed and it has worked flawlessly ever since. Once again I'm not telling anyone to open any part of a console. For most it would be a bad idea! dham.fab.

Tray won't close

Use the following steps to close the disc tray on an original Xbox 360 console.
Step 1: Remove the disc from the tray Step 2: Make sure the faceplate is on correctly
The faceplate is the plastic piece on the front of your console.
  • Press firmly around the edges of your faceplate to snap it into place (make sure it is flush with the rest of the console). If the faceplate is not on correctly, the disc tray won't close.

Xbox 360 - Stuck or sticking tray fix!

If your Xbox 360 DVD drive won’t eject it can be a very simple fix.

The Samsung drive is almost always a very simple fix, if you have another drive, it may be more difficult.

To identify your drive, follow this guide:

• Remove the faceplate by firmly grasping the opening for the USB ports and pulling.
• Underneath the DVD tray there should be a small hole.
• Look at the wires in the hole to identify which drive type you have.

Red and Black Wires = Samsung Drive
Yellow Wires = LiteOn Drive
White Wires = BenQ Drive
No Wires = Hitachi Drive

SAMSUNG:

It is very common for a Samsung drive to not eject. It’s a very simple fix for this!

1. Power on your Xbox 360
2. Press the eject button
3. When the Xbox 360 “tries” to eject, just simply push in on the tray cover.

That should make it eject!

If it does not, please follow the guide for the other drives below:

This requires you to disassemble your Xbox 360. IF you don’t know how, look it up on google, there are plenty of guides.

Then follow these steps:

1. Remove your Xbox 360 DVD drive from the Xbox 360
2. Turn over and remove the four screws securing the drive (6 screws if it’s a Hitachi)
3. Remove the top cover of the DVD drive.
4. Put the drive back in the Xbox 360, connect the wires, and power on your Xbox 360.
5. Once the 360 powers on, eject the drive. Most of the time it should eject normally. If it doesn’t you may have to force it.
6. Unplug the Xbox 360. If you turn it off with the power button the tray will close first, we need it open.
7. Near the front of the drive, you should now be able to see and access a small rubber band that was hidden by the tray.
8. Remove the band, lubricate and replace.
9. Replace the top cover and hook up and test.
10. If that doesn’t work, you may need a new rubber band. If you can get one of the right size, replace and test.

The xbox 360 elites keeps on saying open tray when trying to play

1, the disc may be dirty
2. the mian reason for this your xbox drive cannot read the disc , because the power of the lens is gone(not completely) ,

solution:

1. keep your disc inside the drive and switch off the console, again swith on try this 2 to 3 time
2. keep the console in vertical position or little slanding position(180 dg) make sure it does not fall

3. its better to buy hatddisc and load the game inside it , so that u lens life increased

4. change the entire drive
