Question about Crosley CDE6000 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Crosley CDE/CDG22b7 The dryer makes a loud rolling noise when operating. I cannot figure out how to disassemble the unit to look under the drum - it looks like I have to take the unit entirely apart to trouble shoot the where the noise seems to be coming from. I also cannot find a repair manual online. I would like an idea of where this noise might be coming from or a way to easily disassemble the unit without having to take the entire dryer apart.

It sounds like the drum is either out of round, or it's hitting the sides of the unit (it's not, I ran the unit with the top pulled open) and it's quite loud. Almost as if there's something hitting the drum.

I have a similar problem. It sounds like a worn bushing on an idler/tensioner pully. The noise is irregular in rythm but constant. It appears that there are screws along the bottom of the sides that hold the undercarridge on. They are torx 20 x 50 (which in itself is fairly annoying).

I was hoping to have a quick look and order whatever parts appear to be at fault but this dryer looks like it needs a little work to get inside. Anyone know of an easier way to diagnose this issue?

How do you take it apart to get access to the drum?

I cleaned out my lint tray and after I put it back in, the dryer started making a grinding noise?

Check all exposed screws, and make sure they are tight. Loose cabinet screws may cause a squeak.
Check for foreign objects in the drum. (Coins, buttons and zippers will make a rattling sound as they roll around in the drum)
May be loose drum slides can cause a metal scraping noise as the drum rotates. For that you'll need to contact Crosley Service Center.

Good luck and have a nice day

Thumping/Screeching sound, MD:LDE8616ACE. Rollers? Idler Pulley?

Your description sounds like one or both of the rear drum supports (rollers) is bad. A quiet thumping is almost always present as the weld in the drum comes in contact with the drum supports. A binding support will squeal, and the thumping could be worse at that time. After running the dryer until the noises are present, once disassembled, you can tell if a support is bunding or rolling normally by spinning it by hand. The same goes for the idler pulley. Make sure power is disconnected from the unit befor attempting any repairs.

While the unit is disassembled for repair, make sure your your old cat is not inside.

My CDE6500 is making a loud tumbling noise while in cycle. It drys fine, but as loud as can be. Can anyone help me ?

There are a couple rollers that the drum turns on that have probably got bad bearings and need to be replaced.
