    Thanks sublimation,

I went to the Packard Bell website where I found instructions on removing the front cover....two plastic clips near the bottom accessed from inside the case beside the hard drives.

It would be helpful to know which Packard Bell computer you have as this isn't a, "one size fits all" situation.

Check the back of the PC case, There maybe a screw that needs to be removed in order to open the side panel. Another thing could be that there is some kind of sliding lock, that is holding the panel in place. Keep playing around in the back of the case, most likely you'll find it within a few minutes.

Hi,

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Packard Bell how to take out DVD writer

usually there is a small cross headed brass screw underneath laptop case that needs to come out

turn over laptop when off

look for door to cd/dvd player

trace your finger in middle of door about 2 to 4 inches in case on bottom

should see a small screw there

will require a tiny phillips head driver to remove

then should slide out with a little push on base of drive housing

How can i make a cd on my packard bell laptop, model number MS2266, does it have a cd rw drive

This is a "recent" laptop, e.g., 3GB of RAM, and 500GB disk-drive.
So, it's reasonable to assume that it contains a CD/DVD reader/writer.

To write a file to a CD-recordable disk, click with the SECOND (usually the RIGHT) mouse-button on the icon for the file, and point at "Send To", and click on the icon for the CD/DVD drive.

A dialogue-window will open, allowing you to add other files to a menu of files to be written.
Work from that point.

Packard Bell Easynote E2316, DVD drive. My DVD drive will allow me to write to DVD+R related media, but does not write to DVD-R media. Usually I am pretty good with finding out the reasons why, but...

Sometimes, the specific brand and manufacturer of the media is an issue, not the DVD+R or DVD-R style.

A lot of the time, a firmware update to the DVD drive allows the DVD writer to work with a broader range of blank media.

Since this model is so old, Packard Bell does not offer firmware updates. If you can identify the manufacturer and model of the DVD drive in the laptop, you may be able to locate a third party firmware installer at places like www.rpc1.org.

Need to buy Packard Bell keyboard relacement for S/N BCKB21006311: P/N 6837780001. Can you advise/?

Packard bell should be a standard PS2 keyboard, I would just get one at your local thrift store for a couple bucks. Look at the connector where it plugs into the tower and then just make sure the new one looks the same, should work good. Most modern keyboards are USB, but packard bell is old and may not work with this type. You could go find a new PS2 keyboard at a store but it will be about $20

Remove he dvd drive from Packard Bell computer

Remove both left and right panals on the tower. Disconnect the IDE ribbon cable and power from back of the cd drive. There also may be a small wire that connects ether to the sound card or motherboard also. Remove all screws from the right and left side of the device. Push the drive out the front.
