My house was built in '88 with a M&a...

It includes intercom, doorbell and radio. Two questions:
1) Plastic cover faceplate ( in my living room, is connected to exterior door chimes). Size 11 1/4 x 9 3/4. Is there a more attractive cover available.
2) The radio/control unit in kitchen occasionally develops a staticky/cracking sound (not a screeching, but stacticky), which is very annoying. I have the wall boxes throughout house, and one on my screened porch. What can be done to eliminate the irritating noise?
