Blurry computer screen

1) Check the screen resolution.
Right-click on My Computer, (or Computer), then at the bottom of the list click on Properties.

2) In the Display Properties window, click on the Settings tab.
In the middle, under -> Screen resolution, is it the native screen resolution for the laptop's monitor screen? (LCD screen)

Example: 768 x 1280

Don't know?
Use the computer you are using now, and look up a replacement LCD screen for your laptop. This info will tell you what the native screen resolution is....(Will just state screen resolution, or resolution)

Also......Look to the right of Screen resolution.
Color quality is supposed to be Highest (32 bit)
If it isn't, then click on the blue side arrow, and in the list click on Highest (32 bit)

Still no?
Then don't give up on me, we're diagnosing the problem remotely.

Adjusting pcoutput signal with windows xp

The only 'output signal' you are going to adjust is the video signal.
The only adjustment there is the Screen Resolution, and Screen Quality.

Right-click on an empty area of your desktop screen.
Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the drop-down list.

In the Display Properties window left-click on the Settings tab.
In the middle of the window, and on the left side, is Screen resolution.

Move the Slider to the left to Decrease the resolution.
To the right to Increase the resolution.

(The Slider is the arrow that has a green tip on the top and bottom. Sits on the line in-between Lee and More.

Put your mouse cursor on it, press the left mouse button down, and hold it down.
Now drag the Slider back and forth, by moving the mouse left to right. Set it to the Screen resolution that you desire)

Color quality:
It should state - Highest (32 bit)
If not click on the blue down arrow to the right.
Then click on Highest (32 bit)

After you set the Screen resolution and/or the Color quality, be SURE to go below, and click on Apply.

Then click on OK.

The above not what you had in mind? Post back in a Comment.

I am using a compaq 1701 flat panel monitor. I installed windows Xp. The screen resolution is $4 bit color coz the driver is not installed. Looking for the driver for compaq 1701 flat panel monitor for...

The screen resolution and bit color is controlled by the video driver NOT by a driver for the monitor.
Install the correct video driver for your video card and you will be able to increase the screen resolution to over 1024 X 768 and bit color to at least 32 bits.

Only getting extra large picture

Please right click on your monitor desktop

Click on "Properties"

Click on "Settings"

Look for "Screen Resolution" down at the bottom.

see if the resolution is "1024 by 768"

if not then make it "1024 by 768"

Also check "Color Quality" is set to "Highest (32 bit)"

If not then make it "Highest (32 bit)"

Click apply and screen resolution will be changed.

If it does not change then please check your graphic card drivers.

Cheers

Monitor color display problem

Go to the control panel. Click on display. The display applet is your next stop. The display applet is your central location for all of your display settings, including resolution, refresh rate, driver info., and color depth. The display applet has 5 tabs: Thmes, Desktop, Screen Saver, Appearance, and Settings. The 5th tab is where you make adjustments that relate directly to your monitor and video card. Look at the Settings tab. At the bottom of the dialog box, you'll see 2 options. Screen Resolution and Color Quality. By moving the Screen Resolution slider, you can change the resolution. The most common resolutions are 640x480, 800x600, 1,024x768, and 1,280x1,024.Your system may have more or fewer resolution options.

The color quality is the number of colors displayed on the screen .You can change the screen resolution with a simple slider and adjust the color depth from 4-bit all the way up to 32-bit color.

Running a 32-bit color gives a nice, realistic tone to images, and many games insist on it.

Clicking the Advance button opens another dialog box with 4 or more tabs.

The monitor tab gives you details about the currently installed monitor and enables you to make changes to the driver and the refresh rate.

After you make your changes to your monitor and it still is not working properly, it must be your video card which is not seated.
In layman term, your video card is not plugged in firmly in the slot!!

Intel celeron cpu 2.40 ghz,the sreen resolution is too low,the color quality endup on [4 bit].so i dont get a clear screen.

Have installed latest driver for your motherboard and it got nothing to do with the processor. The screen resolution is generated by Graphics or video chips of MB. Check the device any yellow questions for driver if any try install all the drivers first. If problem persist give all details of system.

I cannot change the screen resolution or the color quality

Make sure your drivers for the video card are installed or installed correctly.
Goto your video cards website and download the latest version from there. The drivers installed by Windows are more a generic version, and extremely trimmed down.

Hope that helps
