Not sucking up dirt off floor any longer

My Bissell Powerforce doesn't want to **** up dirt anymore. It leaves most dirt still on the floor. I've cleaned the fliter but it still doesn't work. Should I completely replace the flirter???? Thank you!

Chances are there is some blockage in the pathway from the floor to the bagless colllector. Use a flash light to look in the tube and straighten out a wire coat hanger to probe the areas you can not see.

Finally if your vacuum has a beater bar/brush that spins against the floor check to see that it is spinning. If it is not, that indicates that the belt which drives the brush is broken.

good luck.

Hi Marian. Thanks for asking this question. The Powerforce vacuum has a bare floor setting; however, you may want to contact the hard floor manufacturer for their recommendation regarding the use of a rotating brush.

Just because you cant see the obstruction doesnt mean theres not one. The hose could be stopped up somewhere not visible to your eyes. I have one and I have to take hose off and apart to clean it out. check the roller. Is it rolling?

It's blowing dirt out the bottom/back

this is caused by a plugged up suction hose AND / OR a dirty filter.
clean the filter - and remove the bottom floor plate and clean out the hose where it bends down to the floor unit ( this is always where the dirt collects when the filter gets dirty and suction is low ).

Sucks Well but Leaves a Trail of Dirt

It sounds like you have a clog and what you will need to do is start at on end and then work you way to the other. You might try a coathanger and straighten it out to so can work it to the areas that you can't reach.

A common probem with vacuums that are equipped with an attachment switch is the switch isn't all the way in it's normal position. Our Bissell has a yellow dial that switches from normal to attachment mode and will only work at 1/2 its power if the switch isn't in vacuum mode.

Dirt doesn't make it to cannister ...it used to have the spin around affect now it just sits there but some dirt is leaving floor....it is in the hose..I have cleaned ALL filters ...YUCK......help

You have a broken belt. Turn the vacuum over and remove cover plate. You will probably find a broken rubber belt. Buy a new belt for your vacuum. Remove the brush , install the new belt with the brush. Put cover plate back on. You are ready to go!

i know bissell vacuums are very cheap but they should last more than 3 years. there should be two parts to the dirt cup. remove the dirt cup and above it there should be a round plastic part. unscrew it and check that filter.

Bissell bagless

I had the same problem, called Bissell over 10 times! They send me 3 plastic inserts for the dirt chamber, not the problem. I solved it by throwing the Bissell away and buying a Eureka bagged vacuum, no more problems.
