Clear the paper jam... Also make sure all the pick up rollers are not smooth, if they are replace them. Also make sure the tray is set to the right paper and not offset. A lot of times people slam the tray and it moves the setting bar.
The panel on the back of the printer should pop out and you can get to the paper jam throught there. Make sure you get all the peices out cuz sometimes all it takes it one very small piece of paper to make it not work.
Try gently scrubbing the rollers with a lint free damp cloth. Make sure that the paper is good(not warped). Make sure that the paper is pushed back far enough to meet the roller.
Check input paper feeder at top too - easy to miss. Top flips open with a firm (but not excessive) pull, so you can look there.
If you are sure you've opened and looked under every available panel on the printer (there are many!), turn it off and unplug for half a minute. Make sure all panels are back properly in place, but leave out the paper tray (and no paper either in the rear input paper feeder).
Plug in and turn on. Wait for it to finish its start-up sequence - it should complain about no paper.
Check the paper is flat and straight in the paper tray, and no excess room between paper and guides, and put it in again.

Sometime the ink jet mechnism is out of time or it gets stuck in the lock position. You might want to see if it looks like there crooked in the trays at the end of the printer.
