First attempt to use a different monitor on your computer, or use this monitor on another computer. If it appears that monitors only shut off when attached to your computer then it's safe to assume that you have a graphics card issue, not a monitor issue. If your monitor shuts off on another computer then your monitor is basically broke. To try to troubleshoot the graphics card, unplug your monitor from the computer and the wall. Now unplug your computer from the wall, open up your computer case and remove the graphics card. Using a can of compressed air, blow out all of the dust in the computer. Reinsert the graphics card, close the case, plug the monitor back into your computer and the wall and start the computer again. Hope this helps.
try another power cord, and a known working power outlet. If no good, replace power board or get a new monitor. contact manufacturer to see if it's in warranty.
Check the flex cable, it might be loose.
Disconnect the monitor cable from the computer, if the issue still occurs, points of failure as follows:
ac power cable
faulty monitor

My sister's monitor wont turn on at all. She was shutting her system down due to a storm rolling in, and it said windows shutting down installing updates, while she is shutting it down. She turned it on today and the little light came on then it went off and hasn't been on since then. The Tower works fine but the monitor isnt turning on at all. What should she do? She has had the monitor at least 2 years no more then 2 1/2 years! And it is a LG Flatron 20". HELP
