Question about AT&T High Speed DSL Modem
I bought a at&t motorola high speed dsl modem but it doesn't work on my acer netbook but my nephew has the same modem and it works on his modem but not on my new one ,what do i need, or what do ihave to do? i hooked up on the same line that we have in our house, even when i hook up to his laptop with mymodem nothing happens, but if i hook up his modem on my netbook it works, do i have to call my internet serviceto activate my modem?
>> do i have to call my internet service provider to activate my modem?
Each modem has a unique "address", and your I.S.P. uses that address to authorize each DSL-modem that tries to connect to their network.
Or, if the two of you live in the same house/apartment, you should just buy a "router". Then, both computers can connect to the router, and the router connects to the DSL modem, and both of you can "share" the monthly fee for the _one_ Internet connection.
