Question about Sharp R-420DK Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Sharpd R-420LW My new microwave started buring food in the same location about 4 months after I bought it, which was about 7 or 8 months ago. The carousel rotates. I know that micros had a microwave stirrer in the past, could this be the problem?

Re: Sharpd R-420LW

I always recommend that folks put food off-center on the turntable to assure more even heating.

It's a stirring action, so imagine how inefficient it would be to stir just by twirling a spoon in the center of your coffee!

Also, when you put your food off-center, you're not putting it in the same spot every time. That will help prevent repeated heating of the the same spot on the glass, which can lead to weakness and cracking.

The turntable generally replaces the stirrer, which actually scrambles and stirs the microwaves as they come out of the waveguide from the magnetron. But some models, notably GE's, have both.

So if you're placing the food properly and it's still burning, since it's under warranty, contact Sharp at 1-800-BE-SHARP (1-800-237-4277) to see about getting it checked.

Hello there:
It sounds normal, but there's no heat When the microwave sounds okay, but there's no heat, one of the internal door switches, the high voltage circuitry, or the circuit board may have a problem. To resolve this problem, you need the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.

Many over-the-range microwave ovens suffer from intermittent problems caused by excessive moisture from the range/stove entering the microwave cabinet and collecting on the circuitry. Often the problem is with one or two simple connections that may need tightening or soldering. But, to repair these components, the microwave cabinet needs to be opened. So we recommend that you seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.

Will not heat baby food for 13 seconds

Depending on the amount of Joules your household/microwave received your low voltage control electronics may have been fried by the lightning strike. For your own safety I recommend a new microwave.

Samsung Microwave Oven shows -SE- on the display. Why?

-SE- error means you have a shorting membrane keypad.

Since it's less than one year old, it would be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

You can find your nearest Samsung-authorized service center here or call Samsung's Service Division at 800-932-3837.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

How can i return a microwave

Did you charge it or write a check? You can get a date of purchase that way. I would check the back of the microwave for the serial/model number and a telephone number or website to contact about the defective product. You can also try the manager of the store where you bought it and see what they can do for you. Hope this helps!

The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a minute, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

If it's still dead, since it's under warranty I would contact Whirlpool customer service for a free fix.
