Whenever the setting goes past Carpet, the Dyson makes an incredibly loud vibrating sound right at the adjuster setting. I have cleaned the brush underneath the vacuum and have also made sure there is nothing blocking the tubes. The vacuum works as long as I take the notch back up to carpet or above, but to reiterate the second that knob goes past Carpet, the loud vibration sound occurs. Unbfortunatley it goes past carpet every time you try to recline the dyson.

Somebody recommended checking to make sure the top brush attachments are on correctly. For hoots an hollers I took them off to take away any doubt, the sound still occurs and is happening right by that knob. It is the strangest thing, please help..

I misunderstood the original suggestion to fix this issue. It was a misalignment on the beater bar. I fixed that and voila! Vacuum is perfect again. Thank you

Check to see if the beater bar (the one with the brushes_ is seated properly. The pieces at the ends of the bar are keyed to only fit in one way, but if you're not careful, you can force it in...or force one of them in and it get off-balance.

And Call Dyson...their support is great!

How do I Pull apart a Simplicity Synchrony?

The noise is likely the brush roll or the lower motor fan if you only hear it when you turn on the brush roll. Remove the bottom plate to examine the brush roll, there are screws on the bottom of the vacuum that must be removed so that the top nozzle housing cover can be removed. Remove the screws to take the cover off the nozzle housing from the brushroll to the lower motor so you will be able to inspect the fan in the lower motor. You have a high quality precision vacuum that is not easy to repair without proper training. It may save money and provide better results to have it repaired by a qualified Simplicity or Riccar repair shop.

I took the bottom plate off to clean brush - cleaned it and put it back on and now the machine is making high loud noise - overheating and the hepa filter turned black.

HI, it's Jim from Crucial Vacuum!

The first thing I would check is to make sure the vacuums belt is attached to the brush roll. This may have been dislodged when you initially took off brush roll.

The other thing to check for is to make sure the brush roll itself has been attached properly. Also, check to see if all of the screws to take off the plate have been put back properly and that one of them hasn't been accidentally lodged into your vacuum.

Makes heavy vibration noise when turned on for carpet and belt is good

Check the brush roll and the end caps to insure the brush roll is spinning freely. If there is wear or damage to the brush roll it can cause it to be out of balance and vibrate

Hi,

Check to see that nothing is clogging the machine. If you don't find anything, then the fan on the motor may be broken or chipped.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up. Thanks,

Check the tips of the beater bar. I "bumped" mine to hard and broke a tip. Still worked! Just noisy. Called Dyson support and they sent me a new one no charge. Note. Mine had a loud whirring and a vibration.

Loud noise coming from DC07

Sometimes the brush bar may be slightly bent and has been rubbing against the yellow housing part (at the hole where the belt is) and has melted part of it off, the part which holds the brushes in place. The noise may the bar vibrating against the yellow part because they are now loose. Unfortunately you may have to replace both parts.
