Question about HP Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Shift key doesn't work.

Neither shift key works. The caps lock works for uppercase, but anything requiring shift can only be done using the Fn, Alt, and corresponding ASCII code. Very slow process, but doable.

You should check to see if you have sticky keys or other accessibility options checked. If so, they would be indicated under the control panel -> accessibility options.

Hope this helps - flub

How to change the uppercase and lowercase letters

Either by pressing and holding the shift key (on left and right of keyboard, looks like up arrow) while typing, or by pressing the CAPS LOCK key to put capitals on or off. The caps lock key is usually one above the left shift key.
If you cant find them just advise your make and model of computer and I could tell you exactly where the keys are.

Uppercase

Your question is written with correct capitals ("What" instead of "what", "Do" instead of "do"), so I guess that you already know where the "uppercase" is: it's either the CAPS LOCK at the keyboard's far left (usually marked CAPS or with a lock icon), or the SHIFT key (usually marked with an upward arrow).

On the NSK8458AN keyboard, the CAPS LOCK is marked CAPS LOCK and is to the left of the A key,

so hold ctrl + fn + right shift key then release the right shift key but keep holding the ctrl + fn keys down then push the right shift key again and that should deactivate it

My typing goes uppercase without hitting the caps lock

I have the HP Pavilion and cap locks does the same thing.
THIS WORKS EVERY TIME. Hit both the right and left shift lock simultaneously about 5 to 10 times. It immediately disengages the cap locks. It is a little bit of a hassle, but I'm just used to it. It may happen 3 times per week, but I LOVE the machine, so I just fix it this way!
