Strangely my C-765 has changed and takes picture on P and download to PC on green arrow before did both on green arrow, maybe others are having the same experience?
Slowly try to pry the flasher up with a small screwdriver. If this works the you know it is in the locking mechanism. If it does not work the it is the lock itself that is broken. It is plastic and easily broken. Good Luck
Reset the menus to default or factory settings. Then test the camera again. Make sure that the battery is fully charged or new. You might consider to buy a new battery (Ebay is a good place) for this camera. Then test. Problems like this can show up when the battery is weak or not fully charged. You may try to remove the battery for 24 hours and then after try it again.
Sounds like you will need to format the memory card. This will permanently erase all the data from the card and then you will be able to use it again. To format the card: Press the Ok button - right arrow to Mode Menu - down arrow to Card tab - right arrow to card setup - right arrow to format option. You will see format yes or no. Choose Yes and press ok. This will clear the picture error message and the cards can be used again.
I also own an olympus c765 and was wondering how to use the manual focus option when I came across your post. Actually I have been wondering whether manual focus is of any use in an olympus c765 because the manual does not talk anything about it.
However, I just found out that there is a way of activating/deactivating manual focus. Here it goes:
1. Turn the camera on
2. Switch to any mode - portrait/landscape etc
3. Press and hold the 'OK' button on the centre for a second until you see a MF/AF option on the screen
4. Switch to MF and focus on any subject by pressing the up/down keys.
Most likely, your camera has been turned to Manual Focus option, which is why it is not focussing any more. Follow the steps above and turn it back to Auto Focus option and let me know if your problem gets solved.
The Olympus Ni-MH batteries will provide approximately 200 shots with typical usage (half of the images shot with flash/half without flash and minimal use of the LCD monitor). These batteries are also rechargeable.
