Question about Dell Spacesaver USB Keyboard J4624 SK-8115 RT7D50

Keyboard problems.

I recently bought a new Dell computer and it came, of course, with a dell keyboard. One day when I turned on my computer it was as if the keyboard had become frozen. I had reached the login screen of the Windows Vista startup and when I attempted to type in my password, the keyboard did not type. I tried t urning the numlock on and off but that too did not work. I shut down my computer and switched the USB port that the keyboard was plugged into. It worked fine! However after a while the same thing happened again so I switched plug-ins and it worked. This has repetedly happened no matter what socket I put it in and now it has gotten to the point where it works on none of them. Occasionaly when it didn't work one I tried one I had already used but soon the same thing happened. I would like to know how to fix this problem. Is something wrong with my computer or is my keyboard busted? I have a new Dell Laptop Inspiron 1545 and all of a sudden, while typing e-mails, the keys will throw me into other areas like "history" of the computer, turn on other keyboard functions, etc. (It is happening while I type this) I have tried to uninstall the keyboard and reinstall it but can't find where to go to do it, even with directions from others. Anyway, I find that if I hold my hands high and directly above the keys it works better but it is a bad way to type! It is getting worse and since it is a new laptop I know it is not dirty, or worn out keys. Can anyone offer help?

Sounds like a loose or almost failing electrical connection somewhere that's sufficiently disturbed as you re-connect the keyboard to re-establish the electrical contact. Borrow a friend's keyboard briefly and try it instead. If you still have the problem then the issue is with the computer probably the USB controller. If the problem goes away then call Dell and ask for a replacement keyboard.

How to hook up keyboard to my dell Inspiron 530

Keyboard come with two different connection options these days. The old PS2-style (circular with ~5 pins) port are less common on current machines these days. The Dell Inspiron 530 is one of them; you need a USB keyboard or a PS2 to USB adapter. This adapter, http://www.amazon.com/Adesso-Adapter-connects-connectors-ADP-PU21/dp/B00008ZPED , is an example of how you would connect your old keyboard to your new computer. There are USB ports on the front and back of the tower.

If you bought the computer new, it should have come with a USB keyboard.

I hope this helps.

Dell Studio 1737 with Back lit keyboard but Cap Lock Doesn't Light, replaced Keyboard less than 3 months ago, light worked then and went out just recently.

I'd try a different keyboard and see if the caps light works on that - so you can confirm whether it's the keyboard, or computer.

The mouse and keyboard to not communicate directly with a computer, but with a small USB device plugged into the computer. Remove that device from the Dell and plug it into the Sony. But you also have to go through the resynch sequence.

I have an SK-8185 keyboard which came with my new dell desktop, my problem is not all the keys that i press are registering then the spacebar sometimes doesn't work.

Dell has a wonderful 1 year warranty. If it's under a year. Give Dell a call or E-mail them with your Model and serialnumber and let them know what your issue is. You will probably have a new one within a day or two.
If it's not under warranty. Best Buy has USB Windows Media types for just over $10.

On booting up, computer can not load keyboard system.

One possible problem is that your PS2 keyboard port at the back of your PC is ruined. In time, those so called "outlets" become loose specially the ones with cables which usually got pulled or tangled and make the port strained and the contacts get loose.
If that is the case, you might need to replace the keyboard port, or just stick with your usb keyboard.

Keyboard problems.

1. Restart the PC. 2. Hit F12 key repeatedly as soon as the PC turns ON. This will bring up the Boot Menu. 3. Select DELL Diagnostics. 4. Select the Complete / Full from the list of options. 5. Let the tests run which may take about an hour. Make sure you are there in front of the PC for the first 10-15 minutes, because it would need your inputs. 6. This will test the keyboard and USB ports too. 7. This will also verify for you whether the keyboard works when Windows hasn't started. 8. If all the tests pass and your keyboard is still working after sometime, you have issues with Windows: Start you computer in Safe Mode and check the USB drivers and the keyboard drivers. 9. Now, if you continue having issues even when you are running the diagnostics, you need to check your hardware viz. keyboard (try installing another keyboard if you have one) and the USB port. PLEASE REVERT BACK WITH THE RESULTS. I WOULD LOVE TO HELP YOU FURTHER ON THIS, IF THE ISSUE CONTINUES.
