Question about D-Link DCS-6620G Network Camera

D-link 6220g - is "frozen" - Cannot reset or re-configure

My dlink 6620g is about 3 years old, and when i recently set up a new wireless network i found that i cannot reconfigure any of the camera's settings (wire connection to the router for configuration, have tried to reconfigure in the camera configure page - nothing - it remains on the olds settings for everything; tried to reset to fasctory settings via dlink's installation pgm - same result; tried to reinstall latest firmware - simply toodles along with no progress for an hour or mare with the same result)

The camera "reboots" (ie rapid blinking leghts and cycles through the PTZ motions) but when it comes back up i have the same, original, useless settings for wireless, etc.)

All I really need to do is change settings from WPA back to WEP, but the camera's memory appears frozen.

i have reset two other 6620 gs and they work fine on my new router, so i'm sure its not a network/router issue.

Dlink's support can't help - and of course i'm out of warranty.

Any suggestions? Any sources for repail servcices? Since the lowest price i can find for a new replacement is $625+ i figure a rerasonable try to repair might be worthwile?

SOURCE: My DLink 5300 G internet camera suddenly says "No Signal."

  1. Remove the Java update and roll it back to the previous state.
  2. If it does not resolve the issue, reset the camera.
  3. Lightly insert a paper clip or a similar sized object into the reset hole on the back of the camera, press lightly and then release the button.
  4. The LED on the front of the camera will begin blinking red and green.
  5. When the LED stops the blinking, the reset has complete.
  6. If the issue is still present, restore the camera to factory settings.
  7. Insert the paperclip or other tool and press on the button continuously.
  8. Wait for the LED on the front of the camera to blink red and green and hold the button through two cycles of blinking (about 5-7 seconds.)
  9. Withdraw the tool after the second cycle of the LED blinking and factory restore has been completed.
  10. Run the installation wizard. If you don't have the installation CD, go to the manufacturer's website and download the software.

These cameras are touchy. Hold the reset button on the back in for about 20-30 seconds. Bring up the CD software you got with the camera, it should spot the camera right off and you can configure. That seems to be the only way I can communicate with this model. After setup, then browsers, etc seem to work fine. I would also download the latest Firmware and update.

Not sure what image you are looking for on the browsers.

Web Camera's have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype

set it up as follows:
Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
Then click on the Video Settings.
The camera, if Installed Properly, it will come up and show a video picture.
Then, on the bottom of the page click save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and hear you.

B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger

set it up as follows:
Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on "Open the call setup assistant" and follow the instructions on the left window.

C. Windows Live Messenger:

After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on " "Show Menus." And then click on "Show the Menu Bar".
Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on " "Action."
Go to "TOOLS" and click "Audio and Video Setting" and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.

D. AIM (AOL) Messenger:

On the VIM sign-in window click on Edit.
Then click on Settings Enhanced IM.
Next click on Enhanced IM.
Then click on Audio Video.
The Audio and Video portion has drop downs so you can select the proper audio card and video camera installed in you computer.
The Audi Video drop downs are
Microphone
Speaker
Camera
The audio and camera should function now.
Additional information to use with VIM settings.
Adjust Your Audio and Video Settings:
In order to adjust your audio and video settings, please follow the steps given below:
1. Click the Audio and Video Settings button directly below the My Buddy or My Camera window. If you are currently
Participating in an AOL Live Video IM session, a message will display: You must disconnect the current AOL Live Video IM
Conversation before running setup. Would you like to disconnect now? Click the Yes button.
2. The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working
Properly. Follow the on-screen prompts.
Notes:
The first time you use AOL Live Video IM, a message will display: Would you like to first check your audio and video settings? Click the Yes button.
The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working properly.
Follow the on-screen prompts.
images in AOL Live Video IM may appear reversed, or as a mirror image (text may appear backwards) when you look at your own camera feed or at the
Picture-in-picture (PIP) display.
After making the settings your ready for a chat and video talk with your Family and Friends.

Did you enter the security key (password)? It may be your laptop? Try resetting the D-Link to default settings and connecting to the laptop. They reconfigure the SSID and Security Key. Wireless Setup

WPS (Push Button Configuration)
WPS simplifies the process of connecting to a wireless network to a touch of a button. To use WPS you must have a WPS compatible wireless router,if you do not then you will need to manually configure the wireless connection in the web configurator (see Web Configurator below).

1. After following the hardware installation steps in section 3, ensure your wireless network is operating normally. When ready, press the WPS button located on the side of the DPR-1040. The blue LED should start flashing repeatedly.

2. Within 120 seconds, press the WPS button located on the wireless router you will be connecting to. This button may also be located in the router's web configuration pages labeled "Push Button Configuration (PBC)".

3. If successful, a wireless connection will be established between the two devices.
This connection is secure and uses automatically generated encryption keys; you do not need to remember them.

Note: If you experience problems connecting to a device, please try again. If you still experience problems, the device you're connecting to may be incompatible with the DPR-1040. Also, make sure you are connecting to a router or access point (AP).


Web Configurator

1. After following the hardware installation steps in section 3, ensure your wireless network is operating normally. When ready, type the IP address of the DPR-1040 into your browser, the default IP address is 192.168.0.10. If this does not work, use the PS-Link utility to find out the IP address.

2. Upon accessing the web configurator, click Setup > Wireless Setup.

3. On the next screen, enter the wireless network settings as provided by your network administrator.

4. Click Apply Settings, the DPR-1040 will restart and the wireless setup is complete.

Note: If your wireless connection does not work, check that you have entered the correct network settings into the Wireless Setup screen.

My acer aspire 5050 cannot connect wirelessly to my DLink DI-514 router. It says cannot connect for an unknown reason.


Try RESETTING the DLink back to the default setting and set it up again.
To reset the D-Link back to the default settings -

Dlink DIR 615, network name changed, won't accept password


It appears your brother has changed your wireless router settings.
You can reset the Dlink back to the default settings by -
Power off the Dlink and press and hold the RESET button on the back of the Dlink and the power on the Dlink. Hold the RESET button for 5 secs. until the LEDs flash at the same time.
Connect a LAN cable from the computer to the Dlink. Open a browser and enter the Dlink's configuration URL
http://192.168.0.1
Default login = admin
PW = blank (just press Enter)
You can now change the admin password and set up a new passphrase (ie encryption)

Hello,

It seems as though your router was reset to the default settings.
In this case, you need to connect to the "DLINK" network and reconfigure the router.

If you have the disk, you can use that to run the setup, or you can log onto the router itself and configure the settings.

To log onto the router, open a internet window and type in 192.168.0.1 in the address bar.
This will log you into the router.
Now simply select "wireless" and then wireles security and you should be able to set up the password again.

Dlink DIR-625 Doesnt work. Power light blinks when plugged in


hi.. all,

i am facing the same issue.. my new DIR-615 , when plugged with power cord ... make the power led blink continuously... and hence so, no network is accessible neither wifi works in simple terms noting works, no combination of power cord with network cable with computer works.
i have even tried resetting using the reset button.. but still the power button keeps blinking.
and yes it was working in past, its a brand new product(3 months old).
Please help and its urgent..

Accessing encrypted wireless network


Hi Mike,

The password is only used in conjunction with the username when accessing the router via its web interface at 192.168.0.1. At default, the username is "admin" and the password is 

none/blank. Initially, to acces some ISPs, the DLink would also ask for a password but once set will never ask again except when a reset is done.

On the old PC with the D-Link DWL -G122:
1. there is no need for a network key since you are not using one (as you posted) and therefore should be set to Open/Disabled/Not used;
2. When you installed the software from the CD that came with  the D-Link USB wireless adapter on the old PC, other than the usual driver, it is highly possible that another software was installed. This is the DLink Configuration Utility which should be used to configure/connect the G122 rather than the built-in Windows WiFi Configuration. You can verify if this was installed under your Start/All Programs/D-Link Air USB/D-Link Air Utility. If present, use this to initially configure the G122.

hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need further information.
