Re: wireless not turning on
This will be 3 possible things, if you have touch sensitive buttons then press the one that looks like a sattelite, there could also be switch on the front of the laptop or you will need to hold down the "FN" key and find the key on the keyboard that resembles a radio mast (usually located on the F1-F12 keys).
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Maybe you don't have your wireless turned on. Look onboth sides and in front for the Wireless Switch and turn it on. Sometimes the wireless switch might be a button to press. Look above the keyboard or sides for a wireless button to press.
Also once the wireless switch is turned on there are keystrokes that can togglethe wireless on or off. Normally you would Press and Hold the FN functionkey located at the lower left of the keyboard, then hit the correct F1 thru F12key that toggles the wireless. The correct F1 thru F12 key to hit willhave the wireless signal icon )))) on it. Or it might have the icon of a towerwith the wireless signal icon )))). Normally the screen will displayWireless On or Wireless Off when you toggle the wireless.
Maybe the wireless card needs to be reseated.
Turn the computer off, remove the power cord, remove the cover from the bottom of the laptop where the wireless card is housed. Sometimes the wireless card might be under the keyboard. Once you find the wireless card, remove the 2 antennas (black and white cables) but remember where they go. Then remove the wifi card from the slot (it might be secured by a screw). Wait 30 seconds then put it all back together and reboot and see if it detects wireless.
You can also try downloading and reinstalling the wireless drivers.
Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "AcerSupport" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Download and install the Network drivers for the wireless.
Hi there! Depend on the brand of laptops, the position of wireless button is located in different places. Most of the cases, it stays in the front or in the left side of your laptop. It will have the sign or word written to let you know which way to turn on or off the wireless adapter. There is also a wireless light to confirm that the wireless is on or off. And the Fn + Fwireless to turn the wireless adapter on or off too. So you have : when wireless button is set to Off, whatever you do on laptop still not make the wireless working. If wireless button is set to On, you still need to press Fn+Fwireless to turn on the wireless.
I don't know you understand or not because it quite messy explaination. I don't know why all laptops have to have 2 places to turn on and off wireless adapter. One place is enough. Hope this will help. Thanks for reading
Open up internet explorer or your favorite browser
type in 192.168.1.1
if you did not change the user name and password, username should be left empty with nothing in the username portion and the password is "admin"
if you did change the password and forgot the router password then you must hit the reset button on the back of your router to default the router and will need to reset up your wireless security settings.
but, once you get into the linksys administration page goto the wireless security section and you will see your wireless password there.
hold your function key down (should be a different color than the alphabet keys (on my acer it is blue and abreviated Fn) anyway hold your function key down and press one of your "F" keys, mine is F6. try em all but remember to press them twice if they dont turn on your monitor so you undo whatever setting you changed.
By holding down the function key and pressing the F1 button (the one with the triangle with a line drawn through it 'wifi symbol' ) it turns the wifi card on and you are able to refresh the network list and see the networks available to you.
