Question about Peg Perego John Deere Turf Tractor

1 Answer

No power to back wheels

I have a John Deere toy turf tractor. I have charged the battery which is at 12v. i checked the accel pedal switch's and the volt. is there. I checked the operation of those switch's for continuity and they are switching off and on and seem to be working. I do not get any power back to the drive motors. I also checked the shiftier module and the voltage is there and switch's are operating OK. Any ideas. They battery was sitting a long time but seems to have the charge.

All I can tell you is the most likely cause is an electric clutch failure. If you have electrical troubleshooting experience, you can find the problem. Otherwise, it needs professional service.

Sometimes I have used meters on these toys and received false readings due to numerous tabs in the switches.
As long as the wires are secure, I would replace the high/low switch and the reverse switch.
You can get the parts here
I get all my Peg perego parts from them and they seem to know what they are talking about if you need any help.

I believe the wires run directly from the battery to the switch that makes it run without a fuse. Check to make sure the switch is fully plugged in under the pedal. You will also want to check the charge on the battery, which a store like Batteries Plus should be able to do. Might be a bad battery as well.

I've taken the seat off, completely exposing the two motors on my son's john deere turf tractor (12v). i need to replace one of the motors. how do i remove it after i've disconnected the wires?

you have to remove the center cap from one of the wheels then remove the metal push nut, this will allow you to slide the wheel and rear axle off, then you have to remove the two screws that hold the motor and gear box in place, then you can take out the motor gearbox assembly, then there two screws to remove the motor from the gearbox, then do them in the opposite order to put it back together
