Question about Fuji FinePix S9500 Zoom Digital Camera

Fuji S9500 only works on auto setting

I have a fuji finepix s9500 . The command wheel was not adjusting the shutter /aperture settings and in an attempt to get it work , it just popped off ? it does not appear to want to pop back on . help !! I have had this camera for several years now and use it as a back up/second camera for weddings etc. It is an excellant camera and gives results on par with the Nikon D-SLRS I use as main cameras ....... however, for no apparent reason it has developed a fault in that I cannot adjust the shutter speeds or aperture when set to manual or semi manual. Anyone know of a solution?

I had this problem with my S9500, the small dial/wheel for changing shutter speeds, F settings, etc stopped working. Luckily I had a few weeks left on the extended warrenty and had it sorted for free. Fuji had to replace that whole part of the mechanism as something internally went wrong.
It may be something simple if you are prepared to look at it yourself. I know it's not the same, but when the thumbwheel stopped working on my ipod, I took it apart and found a few grains of sand had gone between the contacts thus breaking the circuit. Cleaned it out and hurrah! It works again.

When the Camera Is In Manual Mode, It will not Change Focus... I spin the wheel and nothing happens. Also i have just discovered in this mode, if i take a photo without the flash on, it will come out...

I don't know about your camera, but when mine is in manual mode, it allows me to set the aperture and shutter speed but does not affect the autofocus. To make the focus manual, I have to move a switch next to the lens. When in manual mode, are you setting the aperture and shutter and what are you using to determine correct exposure?

Is there a repair for command dial on a fuji s9500

Yes. contact Fuji and it cost about £14.00, its a doddle to fit.
When you recieve it you'll work out how to remove the broken part because you'll understand how it locates, basically a small Pozi screwdriver and a sharp knife to lever the top off.

Our camera (S9500) has mysteriously stopped allowing us to use any of the manual functions in manual mode. The light meter is only working on auto exposure setting.

Shutter lag on fuji finepix s7000 - is there a solution ?

2 things - you could do 1 or both, depending on the photographic situation:
1) If you can choose manual focusing, select manual focussing & prefocus on subject. This eliminates the need to refocus. I do this lots with the S9500 model.
2) If you can shoot in manual mode, use auto exposure to see what shutter speed & aperture the camera selects when the camera is pointed at the ground (or other suitably lit spot). Change to manual exposure & set the aperture & shutter speed indicated by the camera in AUTO mode.

Once you do either or both of these you will get instantaneous shutter release.

Practise on unimportant subjects first and see how you go.

you can look through all menu to see if default setting is present. if not set up this way. look through menu 1 hit the arrow keys or ger to next....any ways set Iso to auto. focus to auto flash = auto metering to multipoint most important see if shutter speed has an auto or set to 1/8 second or 1/1000th hope this helps you ...but your going to have to read the manual some day. good luck

Command dial is operating mechancally but does not adjust/ change any settings.

If it is still under warranty- your are in luck A repair shop if you can one- will charge about the value of the camera. Bearing this in mind and if you have the nous and suitable fine tools- have a go at looking under the button- you may find slight adjustment to be made. You do this by removing the batteries and removing the fine screws that hold the top plate and /or back cover on. But don't hold your breath.
