Ideally you need put the machine into "maintenance mode" and find out what error code the machine is giving.

Power off.
Hold down the "menu" button and power on.
Press 8 then 2.
Should give you "machine error xx" (where xx are numbers and/or letters)

This code will mean little (if nothing) to an end user, but means everything to a technician.

In the UK you can ring the Brother helpdesk(0870 830 4000) and they should help you or at the very least tell you what the error refers to.

SOURCE: Problem with my printer Brother MFC-240C "Print unable 4F"

Access the internal maintenance mode by pressing the Menu/Set button, then press * 2 8 6 4 within 2 seconds. This should put you in the maintenance mode menu. Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You'll find an entry listed as purge count. If number is over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.

This will reset the purge count value. Then the printer will restart,
try this step by step.without missing any thing. thanks
