Re: dropped camera

There is a panasonic centre in east belfast on the woodstock road (E.H. Services), i suggest leaving it into them, it may need to go back to panasonic themselves but they can probably do that and advice you on what to do.

My nikon lens af-s DX NIKKOR is stuck won't turn

The lens and housing will probably need to be replaced, but I would take it to a camera repair shop and have it checked to rule out other problems before proceeding with repairs.

Dropped my camera and now the lens won't retract back in. When I press on the screen says lens error M425-12 (7f80). Can this be fixed and should I take it to a camera repair shop? Thanks

It could be one of two things, you bend the lens when dropped or the pins in the lens has become loose and are stuck.
You can try:
Taking the battery out for about 5 minutes and putting it back in to reset the camera. Also you can try hold the power button down and the ok or select button to to reset it. Also can hold the power and the menu button to try and force the lens out to dislodge the pins. If not,

The funny the is that I would have you drop it again on a carpet but on the opposite side to see if you can dislodge the pins from being stuck, try and have it land flat on its back from a decent height.
If the lens in bent you will have to bring it to a repair shop to have it fixed but it usually costs as much as a new camera.

I dropped the camera and now the lens is stuck open. It won't take pictures or close the lens when I turn it off. Any ideas?

Have to take it apart and put the lens in position, I have done but is very hard for a person without the tools and know how, better get it to a repair shop, if nothing broke it can be fixed.

Thank you for using FixYa for your problem

Zoom lens is jammed, It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

The Lens is stuck in the out position and wont re-track back in.

The lens has probably got something in the retraction mechanism that is stopping it retracting. This can be something as simple as sand or grit or as a result of a drop or knock. In most cases the camera will need to be stripped apart to remove the lens assy before it can be repaired. This is best left to a professional camera repair shop.

The lens cover is not really needed, but you can replace it yourself if you can find that other part. If you can't find it, just remove the lens cover entirely and just be careful with your lens. Here's an example:
