This error has nothing to do with your DVD drive hardware, so you can be sure your Laptop is ok. This is software error with Nero. Try and reinstall Nero or just try and burn DVDs at lower speed.

Use different burning software as there might be incompatibility with your hardware or check for updated on NERO website.

Slimtype dvd a ds8a1h ata device is not working. Previously worked fine. Now i get a 'Power calibration error'.

"Power Callibration Error" is the result of low laser power.
Open the DVD drive and carefully, with a cotton bud, rub the laser lens gently in a circular motion.
Try again.
If still faulty, replace the drive.

Recording Error E 6 28030200 how can I get the information off the DVD or how can I finalize the DVD for our church use

I was able to get data off a disc with a similar problem using Nero Burning Rom's Save Tracks feature. If I save it as an .ISO file I was able to rename the file to have the .VOB extension instead and play it using windows media player. I did run into a problem that Nero would run into a read error near the end of the track, report an error and DELETE THE FILE IT WAS WRITING. In order to get around this, when nero was almost done reading the track, I killed the nero.exe process using the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del). Now I can at least view most of the video.

BURN FAIL ERROR CODE

I suppose that you have a DVD writer or a HD DVD drive installed by default. I am having the same problems on an Aspire 5920 G with a HDDVD Toshiba and the problem is because of mister Bill Gated and windows vista... the drivers for DVD RW and HD DVDs are all messed up in vista and they enter in conflict with those from the burn program. ERROR 204 corresponds with "POWER CALLIBRATION ERROR" witch means that the beam could not be centered on the row it was writing or that the beam could not write on the disc. You can try a google search for youre dryve type firmware and upgrade it. To find youre drive tipe go to device manager DVD/CDrom drives and copy the name of the device (eg: if it is TOSHIBA DVDW/HD TS-L802A ATA Device search for "TOSHIBA TS-L802A firmware" on the web and upgrade the firmware to the newest on the market). Alternatively you could install windows XP and vurn from XP and you will not experience any problems

Not able to write dvd on my lenovo3000Y500 laptop

A power calibration error is caused by the inability of a DVD-RW drive to use a DVD-R or DVD-RW disk, it first writes a bit of a data on the DVD then uses it to calibrate itself for the position of the lines. This however can be caused by a number of reasons, so try the following options one after the other, If option 1 does not work, go to option 2, etc.

1:) Matshita has problems with some cheaper brands, get yourself a very known brand DVD as a test like pioneer or tdk

2:) Using a higher speed than the media is meant for, try lowering your burning speed in nero, try the lowest even, let's see if helps

3:) You have a Lenovo as you say. If it comes with Sonic, please uninstall Sonic first, then uninstall nero, then install nero again. Sonic and nero tend to conflict. But even if you do not have Sonic, reinstall nero and apply all new patches.

4:) If option 3 did not help, update the firmware, that helps in a lot of cases.

5:) If even option 4 did not help, disable IMAPI Service (Work's in most cases):
- Launch Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services .
- Browse for "IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service", Right-click on it - and select properties.
- Change Startup Type to Disabled.
- Click Apply and Reboot.

6:) The burner lense needs cleaning, please don't attempt this at home if you are not a mechanic, take it to service they will clean it.

7:) Drive failure, or drive burning out -- then it needs to be replaced, if none of the above helped that is.

If you overlock your computer that can also cause this problem but since you use a laptop I assume you did not overclock it. Let me know if any of the above helped and what the results were.:)

Factory default disc on acer 4520G

Hello,

If you have Nero of Power ISO installed you can right click the .iso file and there should be a command in the shortcut menu that states "burn with Nero" or burn iso with Power ISO, etc. this should apply to other disc burning software you have installed.

As you may know, .iso files are a compressed disc image file that contains the data layout for a complete CD or DVD. Most of the time, burning an iso image from first opening your disc burning software is more difficult but can be done by hunting through your software's menu commands.

Hope this has fixed ya!

DVD Writer not working

Hi,
the device has a power callibration error, meaning that it cannot apply sufficient power to the laser head, to burn your disks.
Alternatively the laser head may be-weak, out of alignment.
this is a Drive error, you can try a CD head cleaning Disk.
The problem, could also relate to the motherboard not supplying enough power the actual drive itself.
ensure you have a full battery, and A/C adaptor into the laptop.
also try uninstalling-re-installing nero.
if all this fails, consider a repair or re-placement DVD Rom.
