Unless the batteries on your key have run flat and need replacement, the key needs reprogramming. Advanced diagnostics at an authorised service centre will sort both issues pretty fast.

SOURCE: power door locks move but won't lock/unlock

I had this problem with the door locks also and it was the door look accuators were striped out. Most locking accuators use a type of motor gear which is plastic. Over time the plastic becomes hard and the teeth break off. You can get these new or used on ebay or get some aftermarket accuators from a car alarm installer. Hope this helps. Terence

My 1993 olds cutless ciera S powerlocks keep clicking unlocking and locking the door when car is off draining the battery

You will probably need to take your Cutless into an auto electrician. Until you can take it in, I suggest disconnecting the battery when you aren't driving. This way the battery won't be drained. It is usually simply a matter of unscrewing the cord connecting to the battery. It can be found in the driver's manual or online if you need to know which cord to disconnect.

sounds like you have a security problem, (antitheft) , when it acts up take the key and put it in the outside door lock switch with the door shut and window down and lock and unlock the drivers door with the key,it should quit, if not try locking and unlocking car with key fob(remote lock, unlock switch on key chain), if that dont work , you have further prob. with security system and take it to a shop. if it quits with the key process and then comes back on , the sensitivity might be to high. does the horn go off with the lights?

Power door locks keep unlocking, and then when unlocked they keep clicking to unlock repeatedly, the car will not stay locked and had to disconnect the battery to keep it locked and so not to need a jump...

it could be a shoted wire to ground going to the door lock actuators or a bad door lock actuator.

Disconnect all door lock actuators & see what happens, If ok, connect one at a time and see which one acts up.

Didn't know my 93 vw golf had an alarm, now I had to disconnect the battery to shut if off.. what do I do to fix this?

I'm not sure if you have an aftermarket or factory alarm, but try this: hook up the battery and try unlocking/locking the door with the key. If you have a remote door lock, hit unlock/lock on that. I have come across a couple of cars this was all it took to stop the alarm, never tried with a VW though. Hope it works, good luck!

Power window on driver side stopped working and the door locks stopped working . Also this morning the battery was dead but nothing was left on.

It sounds like you may a faulty door lock switch. If you pushed the switch to lock the doors and the switch stuck and kept door lock solenoids energized, that would drain the battery. It would also keep the door locks from unlocking, as to why window don't work it could all be on the same fuse or circuit breaker. Usually the power windows are on an automatic reset circuit breaker. Do you hear click and a short time later another click (with the battery charged)? If so that the circuit breaker tripping then resetting. Good luck!

Battery good alternator good starter good but battery keeps draining? The only problaem i know of is the power window works sometimes sometimes it dont and the locks recently are not working you lock the...

The proper way to troubleshoot a current drain is to disconnect one of your battery cables, and put an amp meter between the battery and the disconnected cable. Measure how much current is there, and then you can systematically pull fuses out of your fuse panel to see what circuit is drawing power. Some current is expected, such as the keep alive circuit for your radio, and a dome light if you have a door open.
You should be able to narrow down your search area, by your symptoms. If you have not had your alternator tested, do so, as sometimes they appear to be working, but have a current draw thru the voltage regulator.

2002 FORD EXPLORER DOOR LOCK SHORT DRAINING BATTERY

I just spoke to ford(cause I have the same exact problem), and they told me it's sounds as if the door power lock acuator is going bad. You can buy the part for around $110(plus tax) at autozone, and have someone replace the defective one. Or, go to a ford dealership and they will replace it for some where around $249 hope this helps.

Locks that unlock on their own

One of the lock actuators is bad. It's not locking or unlocking all the way. watch the locks while working the lock and unlock switches. If you see a lock with a sluggish response, thats the bad one. Note-- Over working the locks while testing will cause over heating and locks will stop.
