How to release water from unit

Bought at yard sale - no instructions. lower right corner has cap to remove to let water out. Can a hose or tube be attached so that we don't have to drag the unit outside to empty the water each time we use it?

Here's the manual. There is a tank inside which is accesed by removing the panel. Remove this tank to empty the condensate.

I cant get the cap off my steam buddy. Is there trick to it? Bought it at a yard sale so I dont have any instructions. Any help would be appreciated. The model number is EK8005


That's a fairly common problem with these small steam machines. It's due to corrosion from water impurities (lime, calcium, etc) that corrode the aluminum threaded part (inside the plastic cap) which screws into the tank. Ideally, it would help if you could submerge or "douse" the corroded part in vinegar to dissolve this corrosion, but due to the design and size of machine, it make that hard/impractical.
The only alternative is brute force, which is risky. Sometimes the cap will break free with the aid of a pipe wrench (pad jaws to prevent deep gouges in plastic cap). If it breaks free, fill the machine with white distilled vinegar as well as submerge the cap in vinegar to clean the corrosion. Hope this helps.

How do you replace a thermostat


WARNING: SCALDING HOT COOLANT, WATER OR STEAM
NEVER remove the pressure relief cap under any conditions while the engine is operating. Failure to follow these instruction could result in DAMAGE to the
cooling system or engine AND/OR personal injury. To avoid having scalding hot coolant or steam blow out of the cooling system or reservoir, use extreme care when removing the pressure relief cap from a hot cooling system or reservoir.
  1. Wait until the engine has cooled.
  2. Wrap a thick cloth around the pressure relief cap and turn it slowly (until the pressure begins to release.
  3. Step back while the pressure is released from the cooling system.
  4. When you are certain all the pressure has been released, (still with a cloth) turn and remove pressure relief cap .
REMOVAL

  1. Drain the engine cooling system so that the engine coolant level is below the water thermostat (8575).
  2. Raise vehicle on hoist. See General Information.
  3. Disconnect the lower radiator hose (8286) and degas bottle hose from the water inlet connection.
  4. Remove the two water inlet connection retaining bolts. Remove the water inlet connection.
  5. Remove the O-ring seal and water thermostat from the water thermostat housing. Inspect O-ring for damage and replace if necessary.
  6. If required, remove water bypass hose from water thermostat housing and remove water thermostat housing retaining bolts, water thermostat housing and O-ring from oil filter adapter (6881). Inspect O-ring for damage and replace if necessary.
INSTALLATION
  1. Install the water thermostat, O-rings, water thermostat housing (if removed) and water inlet connection as illustrated.
  2. Install and alternately tighten the retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to 20-30 Nm (15-22 ft. lbs.).
  3. If removed, connect the water bypass hose to the water thermostat housing.
  4. Connect the lower radiator hose and degas bottle hose to the water inlet connection.
  5. Lower vehicle.
  6. Fill the coolant with Ford Premium Cooling System Fluid E2FZ-19549-AA or-B (in Oregon, F5FZ-19549-CC, in Canada, Motorcraft CXC-8-B) or equivalent that meets Ford specification ESE-M97B44-A in a 50/50 mixture with water.
  7. Start the engine and check all hoses and connections for leaks. Allow the engine to warm up so that the water thermostat opens.
  8. Stop the engine. Top off degas bottle as required to maintain minimum cold fill level.

How to replace heater mcore in 1988 crown vic

    Removal - Exterior

    Disconnect the car's negative battery cable.

  2. 2

    Open the coolant tank cap in the engine, then place a large container under the radiator's lower corner. Stick a 3/8-inch diameter hose on the drain fitting in the corner, and loosen the fitting with a wrench to drain the coolant. Repeat for the engine block drain plugs.

  3. 3

    Squeeze the hose clamps on the heater core tubes ad slide them off, then disconnect the tubes and plug them with rubber.

  4. 4

    Unscrew and remove the three nuts below the windshield wiper's motor on the firewall with your wrench, followed by the one nut on the evaporator case's upper left corner.

  5. 5

    Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the car's vacuum source, then push the supply hose and its grommet into the passenger compartment.

  6. Removal - Interior

    Remove the instrument panel trim moldings, the left and right instrument panel insulators, the steering column covers, the door sill plates and the defroster grille. Use a screwdriver on the screws, and pry off the panels with a trim stick where needed.

  8. 2

    Disconnect the shift indicator cable from within the steering column, then remove the reinforcement brace from underneath the column. With the front wheels pointing forward, remove the steering column's retaining nuts with a wrench, and lower the column.

  9. 3

    Open the glove compartment and lower it by depressing the tabs.

  10. 4

    Remove all the retaining bolts for the instrument panel with your wrench; these will be behind the removed trim panels and within the defroster ducts and glove compartment.

  11. 5

    Pull the instrument panel back as far as you can without disconnecting the wires behind it.

  12. 6

    Remove the cross-body brace. Disconnect the temperature blend door actuator's wiring harness, followed by the temperature control sensor tube at the evaporator case connector.

  13. 7

    Disconnect the jumper harness at the vacuum connector near the floor air duct, followed by the vacuum hose at the outside-recirculating door vacuum motor. Remove the plastic push fastener and the left screw for the air duct, loosen the right screw with the screwdriver and remove the air duct.

  14. 8

    Unscrew the two nuts along the plenum's lower edge with a wrench, then move the plenum rearward until the heater tubes and the top stud clear the holes in the dash panel.

  15. 9

    Rotate the plenum's top end forward, down and out of the instrument panel, then pull the panel's lower edge to the rear while you roll the plenum out from behind the panel.

  16. 10

    Unscrew and remove the heater core cover using a screwdriver, then pull the heater core and its seal out of the plenum assembly.

  17. Installation

    Install the new heater core with its seal into the plenum assembly, then close and screw the heater core cover in place.

  19. 2

    Route the vacuum supply hose back through the dash panel, and seat its grommet within the opening.

  20. 3

    Place the plenum under the instrument panel with its register duct open and its heater tubes pointing downward. Rotate the plenum upward and behind the instrument panel, then position it to the dash panel.

    Connect the heater core tubes and their mounting studs through their holes in the dash panel and the evaporator case.

  22. 5

    Re-install the air duct, then connect and tighten all its mounting nuts and screws using your wrench and screwdriver.

  23. 6

    Reconnect all wiring harnesses, tubes and hoses to the vacuum motor, the air distribution duct and the temperature control system, then reconnect the cross-body brace.

  24. 7

    Connect the instrument panel in place followed by all the dash trim panels in the reverse order of removal.

  25. 8

    Reconnect all hoses, nuts and tubes in the engine compartment--this includes the plenum's nuts on the firewall, the vacuum supply hoses to the vacuum source and the heater core tubes.

  26. 9

    Refill the cooling system with fresh coolant--half water and half antifreeze--at the radiator filler neck.

I purchased this unit at a yard sale, it doesn't have any instructions on how to use it. Can I gat a manual? Also, when I put water in the tank I notice it has a nipple..looks like a hose should be there...


Hello, The nipple you see is actually an overflow hose. There is no hose, the water gets sucked in through the bottom of the clear plastic water reservoir.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Water Pump Removal
  1. Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling And Bleeding .
  1. Remove the crankshaft pulley. Refer to Section 303-01 .
  1. Remove the water pump pulley.
    1. Remove the bolts.
    1. Remove the water pump pulley.
  1. Remove the six lower timing belt cover bolts.
  1. Lower the vehicle.
  1. Remove the upper radiator hose.
    1. Remove the bolt.
    1. Release the clamps.
    1. Remove the upper radiator hose.

How to remove a radiator from a ford taurus


Disconnect battery ground cable. Remove battery. Remove battery tray. Remove clip retaining contant control relay module and position module aside. Remove radiator cap. Raise vehicle front end as high as possible. Remove radiator splash shield. Drain radiator. Remove the radiator mounting bracket assembly. Remove lower radiator hose. Partially lower vehicle. Remove upper radiator hose. Remove radiator overflow hose. Remove upper A/C condenser core retaining bolts. Remove upper transmission oil cooler tube clips. Remove lower transmission oil cooler tube. Raise vehicle. Remove lower transmission oil cooler tube clips. Remove lower transmission oil cooler tube. Remove transmission oil cooler bracket and position transmission oil cooler aside. Remove lower A/C condenser core bolts and position A/C condenser core aside(be careful not to loosen the AC condenser lines. Remove radiator support bracket. Remove radiator out through the bottom of the vehicle.
Installation
Position radiator. Position radiator support bracket and tighten nuts. Position A/C condenser core and tighten lower A/C condenser core bolts. Position transmission oil cooler tube and install transmission oil cooler tube bracket. Install lower transmission oil cooler tube. Install lower transmission oil cooler tube clips. Install lower radiator hose. Install radiator mounting bracket assembly. Tighten bolts. Install radiator splash shield. Lower vehicle. Install upper tranmission oil cooler tube. Install upper transmission oil cooler tube clips. Install upper A/C condenser core retaining bolts. Tighten bolts. Install radiator overflow hose and tighten clamps securely. Install upper radiator hose. Position constant control relay module and clip securely. Install battery tray. Install battery. Connect battery ground cable. Fill and bleed cooling system. Start engine and inspect for leaks.

IN-VEHICLE SERVICE Water Pump SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S) REQUIRED Description Tool Number Fuel Line Disconnect Tool Set T90T-9550-S
Removal
  1. Drain engine cooling system. Refer to Section 03-03 .
  1. Loosen drive belt tensioner (6B209) and remove drive belt (8620). Refer to Section 03-05 .
  1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02 .
  1. Disconnect lower radiator hose (8286) from radiator lower hose tube (8291) and radiator (8005).
  1. Disconnect radiator lower hose tube from water pump (8501).
  1. Remove lower nut on both front engine support insulators (6038).
  1. Lower vehicle.
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301). Refer to Section 14-01 .
  1. Remove generator (GEN) (10346) from power steering pump support (3C511).
  1. Position drain pan and disconnect power steering pressure line from power steering pump (3A674) using Fuel Line Disconnect Tool Set T90T-9550-S.
  1. Remove power steering reservoir filler cap.

    Disconnect water bypass hose (8597) and oil cooler hose (6B850) from heater water outlet tube (18663).

  1. Remove A/C bracket brace.
  1. Attach engine lifting eye to left-hand (front) exhaust manifold (9430).
  1. Attach lifting equipment to engine lifting eye and raise front of engine approximately 51 mm (2.0 inches) to provide necessary clearance for water pump removal.
  1. Remove water pump pulley retaining bolts and water pump pulley (8509).
  1. Remove drive belt tensioner pulley retaining bolt and drive belt tensioner pulley (6B217) from power steering pump support.
  1. Remove power steering pump support retaining bolts and nut. Place power steering pump and support assembly aside in a position to prevent fluid leakage.
  1. Remove water pump retaining bolts and nuts and water pump. Discard used water pump housing gasket (8507).
Installation
  1. NOTE: Lightly oil all bolt and stud bolt threads before installation except those specifying special sealant.

    Clean gasket surfaces on water pump and engine front cover (6019).
  1. NOTE: The threads of the No. 1 engine front cover retaining stud must be coated with Pipe Sealant with Teflon® D8AZ-19554-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G350-A2 before installing.

    NOTE: Gasket and Trim Adhesive D7AZ-19B508-B or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M2G52-A is recommended to hold the water pump housing gasket in position.

    Position a new water pump housing gasket on water pump housing sealing surface.
  1. Position water pump on the engine front cover. Install retaining bolts.
  1. Position power steering pump support and install retaining nuts and bolts. Tighten bolts and nuts to 40-55 Nm (30-40 lb-ft).
  1. Install drive belt tensioner pulley and retaining bolt. Tighten bolt to 70-95 Nm (52-70 lb-ft).
  1. Install A/C bracket brace.
  1. Position water pump pulley on water pump hub and install retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to 8.0-11.5 Nm (71-101 lb-in).
  1. Lower engine and disconnect lifting equipment from lifting eye.
  1. Remove lifting eye from exhaust manifold.
  1. Connect heater water outlet tube to water pump and install retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to 8-11.5 Nm (71-101 lb-in).
  1. Connect water bypass hose and oil cooler hose to heater water outlet tube. Tighten clamps securely.
  1. Connect power steering pressure line to power steering pump fitting.
  1. Install power steering reservoir filler cap.
  1. Install generator to power steering pump support. Refer to Section 14-02 .
  1. Connect battery ground cable. Refer to Section 14-01 .
  1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02 .
  1. Install lower nut on front engine support insulators and tighten retaining nut to 88-119 Nm (65-87 lb-ft). Install lower nut of rear engine support insulator and tighten to 77-104 Nm (56-76 lb-ft).
  1. Connect radiator lower hose tube to water pump. Install retaining bolt and tighten securely.
  1. Connect lower radiator hose to radiator lower hose tube and radiator. Position hose clamps securely. Refer to Section 03-03 .
  1. Lower vehicle.
  1. Position drive belt over drive belt tensioner and release drive belt tensioner. Refer to Section 03-05 .

  1. Start engine and check for coolant and power steering fluid leaks. Service as necessary.

Need to replace the heater core in a 1995 Dodge Grand Caravan SE


1991-95 Models
  1. Disable the air bag system by disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Have the system discharged by a qualified professional mechanic using an approved recovery/recycling machine.
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4. Remove the steering column cover and left and right side under panel silencers.
  5. Remove the center bezel by unclipping it from the instrument panel.
  6. Remove the accessory switch carrier and the heater/air conditioning control head.
  7. Remove storage bin and lower right instrument panel.
  8. Disconnect the blower motor lead under the right side of the instrument panel.
  9. Remove the right side 40-way connector wiring bracket.
  10. Remove the lower right reinforcement, body computer bracket and mid-to-lower reinforcement as an assembly.
  11. Disconnect the vacuum lines at the brake booster and water valve.
  12. Clamp off the heater hoses near the heater core and remove the hoses from the core tubes. Plug the hose ends and the core tubes to prevent spillage of coolant.
  13. If equipped with air conditioning, remove the H-valve and condensation tube.
  14. Disconnect the temperature control cable and vacuum harness at the connection at the top of the unit.
  15. Remove the retaining nuts from the package mounting studs at the firewall. Disconnect the hanger strap from the package and rotate it aside.

To install:
  1. Remove the temperature control door from the unit and clean the unit out with solvent. Lubricate the lower pivot rod and its well and install. Wrap the heater core and/or evaporator with foam tape and place in position. Secure with the screws.
  2. Assemble the unit, making sure all vacuum tubes are properly routed.
  3. Install the assembly to the vehicle and connect the vacuum harness. Install the nuts to the firewall and install the condensation tube. Fold the carpeting back into position.
  4. Connect the hanger strap from the package and rotate it aside. Install the 2 brackets supporting the lower edge of the heater housing. Connect the blower motor wiring, resistor wiring and the temperature control cable.
  5. Install the retaining screws from the right side to the steering column. Install the instrument panel trim covering and reinforcement.
  6. Assemble the unit, making sure all vacuum tubes are properly routed.
  7. Install the assembly to the vehicle and connect the vacuum harness. Install the nuts to the firewall and install the condensation tube. Fold the carpeting back into position.
  8. Connect the hanger strap from the package and rotate it aside. Connect the blower motor wiring and temperature control cable.
  9. Install the lower right reinforcement, body computer bracket and mid-to-lower reinforcement as an assembly.
  10. Install the right side 40-way connector wiring bracket.
  11. Install the lower right instrument panel and storage bin.
  12. Install the heater/air conditioning control head and accessory switch carrier.
  13. Install the center bezel to the instrument panel.
  14. Install the under panel silencers and steering column cover.
  15. Install the vacuum lines at the brake booster and water valve.
  16. Connect the heater hoses to the core tubes.
  17. Using new gaskets, install the H-valve and connect the refrigerant lines. Install the condensation tube.
  18. Have the system evacuated and recharged by a qualified professional mechanic, utilizing the proper equipment. Add 2 fl. oz. (59 ml) of refrigerant oil during the recharge. Fill the cooling system.
  19. Perform the Air Bag System Check procedures outlined in this section before connecting the negative battery cable.
  20. Connect the negative battery cable and check the entire climate control system for proper operation and leaks.

Kenmore 90 series washing machine


Check your pressure switch.

First of all, unplug your washer. You will need to remove the console in order to get to the pressure switch. The washer may have release tabs under the console at each front corner. Simply slide a putty knife straight in from the front at each corner and push in while lifting up. You should feel the release tabs push in and the console will pop up. If not equipped with this type of console, you may have a console that has removable end caps. They can be removed by gently prying up on the top of them from the rear on each side. You may have to use a small screwdriver for this. The caps should pop right off. Once removed, you will need to loosen a screw under each cap. And, still there are some of the older models that have screws holding the console in place from the back. Once you have the console loosened, carefully lift it up and lay it back over the rear panel of the washer in its resting position. Be careful not to damage the small plastic hinges that hold it in place.

The pressure switch will be located behind the load level selector knob. Make sure the air hose is still attached. Often, this hose comes loose and falls off. This will prevent the lid switch from sensing the pressure from the wash tub as the water fills. The result: washer fills continuously until it overflows. Looks like a major problem, when its not. Reattach the hose. To keep the hose form sliding off again, you can take a small zip-tie and place it snugly around the hose where it connects to the pressure switch. This will create enough resistance to prevent the hose from falling off in the future. CAUTION: DO NOT over-tighten the zip tie as you can crack or damage the pressure switch. Just enough to make it snug.

If the air hose is still attached, check the electrical connections to ensure the connector plug is making contact and/or not corroded. If everything checks out, replace the pressure switch. If need further assistance, please post back and let me know.

Push through the membrane with the drain connector. The membrane has a circular cut almost all the way through it, and pushing at it with the drain connector will pop out the little hole. I've done it with four LG units.
