I think the fuse is blown on my emerson microwave mw8781sb i test the power coming from the plug and there is power but none after that

You have blown the microwave internal fuse. If you are handy enough you can take the cover off and follow the power cord in the system. The fuse will be between the transformer and the power cord
YOU MUST DISCONNECT POWER CORD AS PART OF ELECTRICAL SAFETY WHILE WORKINGON ON THE SYSTEM!!

You will need to remove the cover which opens from sides and pull it up. Follow where power cord comes in and before it get tothe transformer, there will be a fuse.

We have had custom cabinets made for our kitchen and have installed a microwave above the stove and it is to high for my wife, She is 5'4" tall and can hardly see in the micro wave. The carpenter doesn't...

you will also need to consider space between the stove & microwave, but you could go back to your cabinet company and have them make you a dead panel that matches your cabinets for the face side of the microwave. then you will also need three other pieces 1 for each side and 1 for the back! if you want to drop the microwave down 12 inches have your panels cut 12 inches! have your carpenter block in and attach panels, go to a fastner company with 1 of the bolts that the microwave came with to hang it from the cabnit and find or order bolts the compensate for the depth in which you you have your panels built!

Heat doesn't come on in microwave

If you have the experience with discharging a capacitor and you have a (VOM) Volt Olm Meter. Unplug microwave, discharge capacitor, and check the resistance of the two thermal cut-off discs by removing the lead and set VOM to RX1. If you don't get a reading of zero, replace the discs. For part go to www.partselect.com and enter your model number. If you found any of these suggestions helpful, please rate my solution. D. Lange

    GE Spacesaver microwave question

A microwave should always be on its own breaker to prevent the breaker's being tripped. If that happens too often it can wear out the breaker and/or the outlet. But that won't damage your magnetron.

I would say one of three parts has failed, the high voltage rectifier diode, the magnetron, or the high voltage transformer.

Here are some links you or someone you know can use for testing (in order given) for test help, but read the safety warnings first:

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/diode.html (if it is NOT shorted, it's probably fine)
    http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/mag_test.html
    http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/xformer.html

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

If it's the magnetron, and it's within the magnetron portion of the warranty (usually 5-9 years) but out of the original full warranty (usually 1 year), then your manufacturer will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you or the labor charge to do the work.

Some manufacturers will send you the magnetron to do it yourself. If nothing else, you can save about $75 by taking it to the shop yourself.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

My General Electric Spacesaver Microwave is not rotating and makes a clicking noise instead.

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven. You may have to cut the cover off with snips, then use a screw when reassembling it.

GE Spacesaver microwave trips the circuit breaker

    Since power = voltage X current, 1.58kW / 120VAC = 13.166A

So this unit should be fine on a 15A breaker unless the breaker is bad, the wiring or a connection is loose somewhere between the breaker and the microwave, or the microwave's magnetron or high voltage transformer are failing and drawing extra current.

Microwaves should really be on the own separate breaker if at all possible. Plus, the more a breaker trips, the more work out it gets.

Have you measured the voltage at the outlet? If that's off, current and power will be affected. It should be about 110-125VAC.

A good power test for outlet and wiring integrity is a toaster, toaster oven, or hair dryer rated at about 1500 watts.

If it doesn't run and heat steadily, then there may be a problem with the house wiring or breaker.

If it passes this test, the problem is likely in the microwave.
