No sound from the speakers

I have a sony xplod system on my pontoon. The radio would not work and I found a 10 amp fuse on the back side of the radio was bad, replaced it and the radio now comes on but there is not any sound. It will take a tape(CD) but there is not any sound.

The main thing on problems like this are the speakers, either grounded out or the voice coil is bad. Being on the water it is subject to way more moisture. I would suggest disconnecting all the speakers and either tiring them one by one to see if they function or "pop" them with a 9 volt battery.

OR you can cut 1 speaker at a time from the wire harness at the back of the radio to see if the stereo comes back on. (goes into protection mode when a speaker grounds out)

If that all fails then the deck may be done ---- more than likley one of the speakers though.

Sony xplod stereo wiring diagram

Yes you need to turn on the BOSE amplifier in the car to hear the sound. The wiring diagram is actually on top of the factory radio
You will need a 12v trigger to turn the amp on. this is assuming you have all the speaker (inputs) connected to the output from your new deck.

If your radio is still playing and the subs are giving you music, you most likely have the amp remote wire hooked to a constant power source on the radio. Generally, this is a solid blue wire on both the radio and the wiring harness. It allows the radio to turn the amp on and off when the radio is on or, subsequently, off.

Can I run 8 speakers and 1 sub through 1 1200watt 2:1 Sony Xplod?

asuming the 8s are 4ohms each; wire two in series and that gives you 8ohms then two more in series then you put those together in parallel and it gives you a 4ohm load. repeat with other four for the other side. you should then be able to bridge the sub

series; posative of one speaker to negative of other speaker and that doubles your ohms

parallel; posative to posative negative to negative and that cuts the ohms in half

What duz level adjustment do

Hello,

The level control controls the input level coming from your head unit (receiver) to the amp.

Your Sony users manual is a little vague on how to best adjust the level and other controls.

Here is one method that some installers use and works well with most amps.

Most 10" subs sound best between about 80-100hz and below, so start out by setting the LPF at about 80hz. The HPF will not be used. Next turn the bass boost and gain all the way down. Turn on the radio and set all tone controls, bass, midrange, treble to flat, usually "0" on most head units. Turn the volume up to approximately 3/4 volume level or just until you begin to hear distortion. Now, back the volume down until the distortion is gone. Next turn up the gain control on the amp until you hear the subs start to distort then back the gain down until the distortion disappears. Next turn the bass boost up again until the subs begin to distort, then either back the bass boost down or back the gain down until the distortion is gone. You may need to play around with the bass boost and gain controls to get exactly the sound you prefer.

Hope this helps.

Sony Xplod Amp

well you might want to try using 30 amp atc fuses instead of 10 amp fuses on your amp, because you are getting an overcurrent from your alternator then from your battery. I have the same amp and you will find that your subbs will hit better too. also check on your ground wire from your amp as this also will cause the RED light to come on. :)

sounds like maybe a speaker short, try unhooking your speakers and then powering up your amp, if it then powers up with the speakers unhooked try hooking up each speaker one by one untill the amp goes back into protection and then you have your bad speaker.
