Question about Dyson DC07 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

Brush bar does not turn & makes a loud noise

While using the dyson (pet model) it started to make a loud noise. I looked & discovered the brush bar was full of hair! I removed the bottom panel to get at the bar, removed the hair & it still makes that horrible noise when you engage the front to vaccuum. Upon inspection I noticed the bar did not turn when the machine was on. Help! I think I just broke my son's vacuum cleaner! I have a dyson dc07 and the brush bar rotates when its in the upright position and it keeps making a funny noise. I did take one side of brush bar out to clean it and not sure if i put it back in properly.

If the belt is on the long end of the steel beater bar axle, then it's installed correctly left to right.

I would remove the beater bar again and clean/lubricate the bearings on each end. They should reinstall on each end of the axle and slip done into the housing -- this would allow you to get the cover back on.

Does the belt have a flat spot on the inside where the beater bar axle has been rubbing it?

Is the belt still installed on the brush (beater) bar?

Dyson pet hair tool stopped working. The two oval brushes seem to be locked. I can't see anything tangled in it. How can I fix it?

hi sophie, it's jack at dyson.

if your dc23 is making an unusual noise in use, this could be caused by something simple such as a part or seal being slightly out of position. the rotating brush bar in the turbine head floor tool is driven by the machine's own airflow, so if the brush bar won't rotate as fast as normal it sounds like something is also affecting performance.

this should be easy to resolve, and we may even be able to sort things out over the phone by talking you through some simple troubleshooting checks.

when you have your dc23 easily to hand, please give our experts a call directly on 0800 298 0298 (uk), 1-866-693-9766 (us), 1-877-397-6622 (ca) or 1800 239 766 (au).

we'll look forward to speaking with you.

Beater bar making a loud noise

Our DC33 was making the same ratcheting sound immediately upon placing the cleaner/brush head on the carpet. We carefully pulled the beater/brush bar out of the vacuum. Once removed, we pulled the black plastic end nearest the belt off of the center rod. We discovered hair wrapped around each end of the center rod. After the hair was removed and the clean/brush bar was re-installed, the vacuum ran flawlessly. Hope it works as well for you as it did for us.

Noise

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.
I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your Dyson vacuum. From your description, it sounds like the model number you've supplied may not be correct, as DC08 is a cylinder vacuum which doesn't use a belt-driven brush bar. So we can confirm exactly which model you own and take you through some quick diagnostic checks, I'd encourage you to contact us directly. You can reach our experts by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).
We'll look forward to hearing from you.

DC07 grinding noise

I had the same problem with mine, I took it to a repair shop. The problem is where the belt passes through from the brush and goes inside the machine. Move the belt over a bit and you will see that a plastic guide has been bent over and is pressing onto the brush, which causes the noise. Just bend it straight again and it stops.

My Dyson Absolute has started making a loud noise and the has gotten progressively more difficult to push. I'm guessing the self-propel has stopped working. Is there a quick fix?

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

Try making sure the brush bar is turning when in the vacuuming position. It is possible that the brush bar is obstructed which can cause your machine to make this noise.

Check out our online help at www.dyson.co.uk/support.

Kind regards

Very loud click/catching noise - Dyson DC07Allergy

Take the sole plate off the brush bar (with a coin or a screw driver)compartment and check for blockages near the brush bar and make sure the brush bar spins round freely.
Its sounds like the clutch is slipping (it does this to protect it self from burning out when something is stopping the brush bar from turning)
A quick test is when in upright position turn the brush bar knob to off
(usally in drive postion) then try the user position again - the brush bar should not be turning and they should be no noise

When I tilt back handel and turn dial to carpet It makes a loud grinding noise

On a Dyson this engages the brush bar. Two possible faults: Debris (hair etc) caught in brush bar - cut out with knife. Or - damaged drive belt - pieces of belt striking casing. Last, but unlikely cause, debris in bearings of brush bar - replace brush bar.

Dyson DC14 Animal Vacuum - terrible loud noise

I have purchased six Dyson DC14 vacuums on eBay at rediculously low prices as they were being sold "as is" because they made a "terrible noise" when the brush bar was engaged. Each of the vacuums I received were like new, literally, and did make the terrible noise that was described. For less than $25 each, I purchased replacement beater bars (brushrolls) from an eBay seller in England and ALL six of the vacuums work perfectly.

When I dismanteld each of the units, some beater bars only had hairline cracks and and others were falling apart. I first purchased beater bars from eBay that were very cheaply made and broke within one or two weeks. The beater bars I got from England have been going strong in a commercial business for over a year now. That's equivalent to 5 years use in a residence.

Defective beater bars are more frequent than most people realize. I'd lay odds that is your problem but you will never know until the beater bar is removed and closely inspected. Some fractures of the plastic can be hard to see.

Hope this helps.

Dyson Animal DC07 making a horrible noise!

Ensure plug is not in the socket.

remove the guard from around the roller on base of Dyson by turning 3 screws 90 Deg anti clock wise.
unclip belt from the metal spindle from the motor.

Pull out the roller.

Pull the end of the roller out.
They do not screw, they just pull out.

Clean the muck out from inside the roller ends.

Put end caps back on.

put belt on and thread through the slot.

put belt back on to motor spindle.

Ta da it stops squeeling.
