Hello,

Check the status of the printer at Control Panel. Set it to online if it's shown as offline. If this doesn't fix the problem, check whether installing the vista driver available at your printer manufacturer's website helps.

Step 1:
a. Click Start, go to Control Panel and select Hardware and Sound.
b. Click Printer.
c. If the Printer is offline, it shows "Offline" status. If the Printer is online it shows "Ready".
d. If the Printer is offline, set it to online.
e. Right-click on the printer and select "Use Printer Online".
f. The display should change to ready when the printer is set to online.

Step 2:
If still you are facing issues, then update the printer driver. This should fix the problem.

For further precise instructions, please let me know the Operating Systems installed on the Computer.

Hope this helps..

Testimonial: "Im using a Gateway laptop and unable to find a simple online/offline button, dropdown or tab to select either status. Therefore, I still have the same problem!!"

My HP deskjet D4260 is offline. I have tried everything to resolve this but cannot find a way of etting it back online. Please help

Once you have added either a USB or networked printer to your PC or Mac computer, you can begin sending documents to print. However, on occasion, a print command will create an error on the printer and take it offline, which will prevent all future jobs from printing. To resolve this issue, you will need to change your printer settings from offline to online.
PC Instructions - Open the Start menu and click on the "Printers and Faxes" icon. This will open a window with a list of the printers currently set up on your computer. - Double-click on the icon of the printer you want to change to online. A pop-up window detailing all current print jobs will open. - Go to Printer in the menu bar of the pop-up window and uncheck "Use Printer Offline." This action will change the printer from offline to online.
Mac Instructions - Open System Preferences by clicking on the icon in the Dock. - Go to the Print & Fax control panel under the Hardware category. - Select the printer you want to take online from the list on the left side of the screen. Then click on the "Open Print Queue" button. - Click on the "Resume Printer" button at the top of the queue window to change the printer from offline to online.

Cant get my lexmark 4270 series going on my computer help

Go to Control Panel -> Printers. Is the printer listed here? Is the printer Online (It will say Online or Offline next to the printer tile)? If it says Offline, the computer cannot currently see the printer so check to make sure it is plugged in and turned on and that the cable is connected from the computer to the printer. If it is Online, right-click on the printer tile and select Properties. On the General tab, click on the Print Test Page button. After a few moments, the printer should spit out a test page. If this prints out, your printer is working properly. If not, let me know what error messages (if any) it displays or the overall printer behavior (blinking lights, beeps or other noises, etc).
