Reebok elliptical rl900 slips and jerks as I pedal it

It has started being very herky jerky as I walk/run on it and it seems to be slipping. I have greased it and that seems to have made it worse.

I have a Horizon LS925T treadmill. It seems to jerk. I don't think the belt is slipping, more like the power roller is erratic. It rolls smooth then slows for a second which jerks the belt. Help.

Hi There, This sounds like the control board may be failing. Can you see the control board? Check the 3 larger capacitors for doming or bulging on the tops, which is a sign of high internal heating of the capacitors. This board, 032671 can have issues with these caps. Lubricate deck well, free spin the walking belt by hand to feel for jerky rollers and flat-spots in bearings, if all feels smooth, that controller is most likely at fault or a failing motor with partially shorted windings. My Schwinn 430 elliptical makes a clunking noise when pedalling backwards but not forward. What is causing this?

I have a iron man cdt elliptical that was clunking . I found a shaft on the end of the crank was slipping in and out, inside the bearings. I shimmed it and retightened the retaining washer which prevented it from slipping . Smooth as silk now. It was very frustrating because all seemed tight at first.

B) Walking Belt/Motor Belt too Tight:

If you have adjusted the walking belt or motor belt recently, check for this problem. When the belts start slipping, some people just crank

down the belts and on treadmills, tighter is not necessarily better. The tighter the belts, the more the drive system has to work to keep

everything moving. You should be able to lift the walking belt (with the treadmill unplugged) in the center of the treadmill about 3" without

straining. Tighter belts should be loosen but make sure you don't create a dangerous slipping situation by loosening.

The motor belt (with the treadmill unplugged) should be able to be turned by hand to almost a 90 degree angle from its normal operating

position. Loosen the belt if too tight. Make sure to test for slipping

and if it does with the proper tension, replace the motor belt.

The belt is sliping as I walk or run

* take nail polish or paint and place a mark starting on the front roller pulley and going onto the front roller metal shaft
* then try to walk on it and see if the white mark separates
* if it does then the roller is bad and would need replaced or tap screws placed through the pulley into the metal shaft to hold it in place
* if it doesn't separate then the drive belt is slipping and most likely will need replaced, although you could try spraying belt dressing on it to see if that would be a temporary fix.
* if neither of these is your problem and the walk belt is slipping then you will need to try to adjust the screws in the back of the treadmill through the end caps. these are allen wrench screws.
Tighten each one the same amount such as 1 full turn to start with.
see if you can now walk without it slipping.
If not then tighten 1-2 more turn on both sides.
If after 2-3 full turns it is not tight enough
I would recommend replacing the walk belt.

Hopefully this helps with your problem!

Hi James
Unplug unit remove motor shroud then plug unit back in , press start and begin walking on the belt normally and try to stall the belt to make it slip ( planting foot to stop the belt).
Be careful during this test. If the problem is in the drive belt, either the drive belt will stop when stalled or the front roller will stop when stalled. Here is the procedure for adjusting the drive belt.
Find the motor mounts. Many motors in Icon treadmills have a main pivot joint in which a bolt runs the full length of the motor mount. This bolt will require loosening to provide maximum adjustability. Some models have a single jack bolt and others have an auto tensioner. Single jack bolts are the easiest to adjust.
Find the set bolt(s) on the motor. This is typically run through only one side of the motor mount or may be on both sides but it does not run the full length of the mounting. Loosen this bolt(s) but do not remove. Jack bolt models will have flat mounts and may contain up to four bolts.
Look for a bolt that will tension the motor. If it has this bolt, it typically runs in the same direction parallel with the drive and walking belts. If your treadmill is not equipped with this bolt, skip to Step 4. If your treadmill is equipped with this bolt (very few are) the repair will only require one person. Using 2 7/16" wrenches, make a few turns to this bolt, tighten the bolts and test your treadmill for slipping. If belt continues to slip, and if their is too much tension ( you should be able comfortably twist the drive belt 90 degrees ) then replace drive belt.
If the motor, drive belt, and front roller continue to turn when the walking belt is stalled, the problem is with the walking belt slipping on the front roller, here the procedure adjusting the walking belt.
If the walking belt slips when walked on, first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. Using the allen wrench, turn both rear roller bolts clockwise, 1/4 of a turn. When the walking belt is correctly tightened, you should be able to lift each side of the walking belt 3 to 4 inches off the walking platform. Be careful to keep the walking belt centered. Plug in the power cord, insert the key and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened
If the drive belt continues to turn but the front roller stalls, you may have a broken front roller pulley. If this is the problem, you will notice it because the plastic will usually make a loud squealing sound on the metal front roller. The front roller assembly will need to be replaced and the drive belt must be replaced also. We suggest replacing the drive belt as well because it is a low cost item and will most likely, have suffered unusual wear from the problem. Another possibility is that the drive belt has worn down. In some cases, belt dressing may help correct the problem. If not, the drive belt must be replaced.

Reebok 8050es treadmill walking belt has started slipping/skipping. It has been oiled and it is 2 years old.

If the walking belt slips when walked on, first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. Using the hex key, turn both rear roller bolts clockwise, 1/4 of a turn. When the walking belt is correctly tightened, you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in. (5 to 7 cm) above the walking platform. Be careful to keep the walking belt centered. Then, plug in the power cord, insert the key, and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened. If you still have slipping then the drive belt under the motor shroud can also cause this problem unplug unit remove shroud then plug unit in start it up observe the front roller to see if it stops if it does locate the tension adjusting bolt by the motor loosen motor mount and proceed adjusting until slipping has been eliminated

Hi.Sounds like faulty motors to me. Check brushes and brake units. How much work has the machine done.
These motors develope a build up of carbon and copper dust from the brushes and commutator. This dust can cause a partial short from the armature to the outer casing of the motors. What happens then is the signal from one motor leaks through to the other motor causing the controller to think its developed a fault. A good serviceman can tell you if this is the case. Good luck. Neil.

Treadmill may be slipping

Depending if this is a new issue or old, It could be a couple of issues. Check the belts for slipping. Proper tension on walking belt (check your manual) or drive belt -remove the cover and you might be able to see if the belt is slipping or it could be a load issue (electronics not sensing added load fast enough). My bet is belt tension. Also Lubricate, lubricate, lubricate
