Card error, no card inserted

A "card error" message is displayed on the screen, even with no card inserted.
the message appear with all the cards used, even new ones,  the camera doesn't function, only the display menus.  I try to format the cards, but the camera did not respond, don't allow to format them.  I connected the camera to the computer, the computer cannot read from the card through the camera, but can read from the card itself when inserted in the card reader.  I try to update the camera with a new firmware, I did it, but the problem persists.
any help or solution. It is out of waranty.  thanks!

It is possible that you camera having trouble to the card port. If you are familiar disassembled camera you need to use a circuit tester. Try to resoldered the card port on your camera just to insure the connectivity working.

Just ask near electronic shop to resoldered the card port if you are afraid to avoid damage to your camera. Sometimes this because of a capacitor could no longer supply value of voltage inorder to detect the card.

I don't beleived that this was not affected with a viruses because as what you stated you can used the card through card reader with computer. So that mean's the internal problem is from your camera.

Please let me know any update.

I also added to clean up the card port of the camera since ussually we are often to insert card to it and that's possible some dirty thing was also inserted. You can buy a liquid fuil ussually used to clean electronic part which will evaporate right aways to avoid short circuit of your devices. Hope this will be helpful.

''Unable to display this image'' error on Pentax Kx

Sounds like some of the spaces on the card are becoming corrupted. How do you download? With the camera and USB cord, card inserted into reader on computer, or card inserted in a separate card reader? When you are finished downloading, do you use the "safely remove hardware" icon at the bottom right of your computer screen or do you just yank out the cord or card thereby causing the corruption?

The card is locked appears on screen when SD card is inserted

Is it possible for you to use some tweezers and adjust the very small lever inside the camera's card bay? It may be stuck thus telling the camera the card is locked.

How to use the memory card reader

To access the memory card reader without using the software provided, follow the steps below. If no card is inserted, the green light on the card reader will be on.
Insert a memory card.
• Insert the card with the brand name label facing up.
• If there is an arrow on the card, make sure it points toward the printer.
• If needed, make sure you connect the memory card to the adapter that came with it before inserting it into
the slot.
Wait for the light located to the right of the slots on the printer to come on. The light blinks to indicate the memory
card is being read or is transmitting data.
• The printer recognizes one memory card at a time. If you insert more than one memory card, a message appears
on the display prompting you to remove all memory cards inserted.

Card error even with no card inserted

I've had the same problem. No pins are bent and I bought the new cards as well. Write protection is off. Hmm... Olypus wants $190.00 for a flat rate repair at one of their facilities.

Had 1.5 years of good use out of the camera. Do I do the repair or buy the 510?
